McCain Ditches Letterman

Post by FunkHouse9 »

Here's a little write-up and accompanying video on John McCain's appearance on David Letterman last night... or... not.

In an attempt to not double post this, I nosed around to see if it was already up anywhere. I do have to give credit to chippewa for being the first to break this story here on BN.

Letterman was p!ssed. Especially after he was told that McCain was taping an interview with Couric in another part of the CBS building, after McCain had told him that he had to leave immediately for Washington.

He had to first get into his flight suit, land on an aircraft carrier, and get the "MISSION ACCOMPLISHED" banner out of mothballs..

..and look what got done today.
His own party can't even get on board with him. :x :x :x

It took 30 years to mess it up this bad. You wanted him to fix it overnight?

Maybe when your boy gets done walking on water he will fix it.

gotta correct you there, E

it only took 8 years to let this go so bad.
we weren't in an economic crisis 10 years ago, or even in budget deficit.
It started when W. took the reins off of the lending institutions, and started to allow
such ridiculous "0% Down!!" mortgages to be written.

That is where it has started...

I agree....I actually like the fact he blew off that late night has-been that hasn't been funny since before Clinton was in office. The last time I watched him was when Jimmy was on, and as I remember, his band tried playing with him, and really su*ked!!!!

Not according to Bill Clinton.

Going very much against the media meme that the current financial crisis is all George W. Bush and the Republicans' fault, Bill Clinton on Thursday told ABC's Chris Cuomo that Democrats for years have been "resisting any efforts by Republicans in the Congress or by me when I was President to put some standards and tighten up a little on Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac"

OTOH, Clinton *did* leave a budget surplus when he left office. If continued, we might actually *have* the money to bail a few folks out.

But maybe they could start with me - I'm ready for a bailout. I promise to make B of A's mortgage portfolio more secure, and then spend the excess on stimulating the economy!

What I find absolutely hypocritical is all of the news stations and sites that are reporting on the mortgage crisis while still taking advertising from the scam companies claiming they can get you mortgage money!!!! What's wrong with this picture?

Actually his last 3 years in office had a budget surplus. W. is leaving all-time record deficits and now throw on the 700 billion bailout on top of the 475+ billion deficit already piling up....let me just add that up....oh, that's about $ 1.175 TRILLION for one year.

Not to mention that Congress had their hands in the proverbial cookie jar, too.. it's not JUST one person's fault.. or one person's successes.

That is correct, but...let's face facts...between Reagan, Bush the elder, and W...the pubs have had an administration in office in 20 of the last 28 years and the Clinton was the only one to have a surplus, let alone 3. The national debt has gone from 965 BILLION when Reagan came in to all but 10 Trillion today.

What it appears like is that after Palin's poor performance with Katie Couric, the McCain camp felt like they needed to put McCain on with Couric to counter that. :-?
