...when Jimmy used to write a semi-regular wingshooting column for Sports Afield, in the early 1990s?

He started not too long before the mag went out of business for a while, so I didn't get to read too many of his columns. I've tried looking them up online, with no luck. Just wondered if anyone else remembered this, too.

Vaugely. Wasn't there are article in Rolling Stone where he went duck hunting with P.J. O'Rourke?

I don't remember that article, but JB did do a bird hunting column for SA in the early 90s.

SA was my favorite outdoor mag as a kid, but it really went downhill after Tom Paugh left as editor (not JB's fault, of course), and went out of business for a while in the mid 90s.

Loved reading my grandfather's old SA when I was a kid. I always thought it was a great magazine. I sort of remember the JB column you are talking about
