Best paying short term job
I'm finishing up my teaching degree. In Jan. I start student teaching and that's it. I have a night class and an online class. I was planning on subbing this semester but I'm not happy with the irregularity of it. I'd like to do something to sock away some money for the student teaching semester. In Dec. I'm likely to leave unless I can work weekends or maybe one night a week. So I'm looking for the best paying job that won't make me feel guilty leaving. I have done alot of things but mostly managed our hvac/r business for many years. I don't really want to get something in mgmt as that is not really suited to the short term.

I would think it depends on how you advertise/market yourself.OceanCityGirl wrote:tutoring would be a good idea if I can do it without my certificate.
Just be honest about your credentials/qualifications.
Say your a degreed student teacher working toward full licensure (or whatever the proper terminology is).
If you think your lack of tutoring experience makes a difference, charge a bit less than other foks are charging, everyone want's to save a few bucks these days.
I see tutors at the public library and I know they aren't "teachers", they're business folks from TI (Texas Instruments - which is near me), but I suspect they're probably very good at the math tutoring I see them doing.

I would love to do this but I'd guess I'd need to take a class? It would be the perfect fit though and I could still do it a bit while student teaching.C-Dawg wrote:have you considered bartending? I average over $20/hr doing a shift a week as a PT job

Don't know if your up for it, but I wait tables at an Applebee's on the side just one weeknight and one weekend double and usually bring home around an extra $150-$200 dollars a week. Nice running money for gas and lunch thru the week.

I've been thinking about waiting tables. I did it for years but haven't done it in 15yrs. I was wondering if at 42 I might be too old for it and not likely to get hired. I have the ability to do a bit more then 3 shifts too. I"d like to pick up an extra 300. per week ideally. I hate to do retail but I might be forced that way if I don't come up with an alternative. Since I'm not looking to do anything I have experience in I'm basically no-skill.parrothead3282 wrote:Don't know if your up for it, but I wait tables at an Applebee's on the side just one weeknight and one weekend double and usually bring home around an extra $150-$200 dollars a week. we did the math and she would have earned.. like $25 an hour..
