From what I've seen, it looks as though McCain has misrepresented factcheck.org when using it to support his campaign.
you are right, and if you go back to all my posts that has been my main thing I have said, both sides lie, both sides cheat, both sides steal and every site I can find puts out something of their view.
It's sad that even the most unbiased sources are still biased. Nobody can or will truly tell it like it is.
That's why I don't trust polls until the one that counts. You can word any question for polls to get the answer you want.
I have a co-worker who works for the local Republican party. He told me that a couple of polls were done by the same company, using two different names, calling the same people, and that they came up with 2 different sets of results, based on the name of the polling company. He said when they used a name that represented the Dems, the polls leaned left, when using a name representing the Rep Party, the poll leaned right. He said most people are sick of it all and will tell pollsters whatever they want to hear just to get off the phone.

Plays to my point indirectly.

What people here are forgetting is that we don't vote for the President and Vice President on election day. That doesn't happen until December. The only thing we do in November is that we vote for people who will vote for the President and Vice President (yes, I know I'm being, as dp would call me, Admiral Obvious for some people) I think a lot of people may have forgotten this. SO because of this, you COULD get what we got in 2000. A President that didn't win the popular vote. A lot of people don't like this system, I think it's for the best. It has flaws but there haven't been anything better given that will replace it. Some will say that why don't we just get rid of the Electoral College and let the people decide who they want as President. I think the Electoral College was placed there to protect the voice of the minority from the "tyranny of popular rule."

Is there any other state besides NH where you actually get to vote for VP?

It looks like you've figured out the concept of TRICKLE-DOWN economics that have been the hallmark of these Reagan Republicans.
Problem is... this last week's dose came down on us like a d*m bursting.

You really think the collapse of the brokerage sector and insurers is a result of republican policy?

Just curious, LB, you're take on last week's financial debacle...you're blaming Republicans for it? You seriously don't feel that it's equal blame?

Agree with everything including the attempt. If sane folks think its a possibility imagine what the whack jobs are thinking.
I dislike both candidates and if not for the troops laying it on the line everyday for my right to vote, I most likely would not.

I agree there's enough blame to go around but now it looks like we're letting one of the inmates run the asylum.

That's funny...when *I* want to get off the phone with a pollster, I just say, "Sorry; not interested," and hang up. Works every time.

Meanwhile, McCain's campaign is planning to get "nastier:"
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/27018572/
Maybe I'm just a cynical and tired small-l liberal...but what this says to me is, "If we stick to discussing the issues, we'll lose...so let's go with character assasination, because it seems to work."
I don't know who this is a greater indictment of: the McCain campaign, or the American public.
Shakespeare was right:
"First thing we do, let's kill all the lawyers"
"A pox on both their houses!"
Good thing I get to spend the last week of the campaign in Key West, and can mostly ignore the silliness.

It works because lots (and I mean LOTS) of people don't do anything but listen to the sound bites. And they think the commercials are actually telling them facts. I'm spending a lot of time these days watching HBO where there are no commercials ofANY kind.

I really think that only those who vote should have a right to complain. If you want to keep your mouth shut on election day, you should be keeping your mouth shut for the next 4 years.

Actually, those that vote and those that don't vote should both shut up and not complain.

Ok, I'm not trying to be a pest, but I see that the title of the thread has been changed and the original post was edited to remove the "lame joke" from it. I hope that the edit was made by MileHighPirate but I see that the post does not have the usual "this post has been edited" line which I take to mean it was done by a moderator. As stupid as it is for me to even care, I take a little offense to the fact that a juvenile jab at a public figure was censored in a public forum while many of the
far more offensive statements I've seen here remain.

I'm even more offended when the mod comes in and removes the p*** spam before I get a chance to bookmark the links.
