My only question to the people of N.C. is
WHY?
What finished her, if the projection holds, was a real dirty ad she ran last week which painted
her opponent Kay Hagen as an athiest. It was a classic low blow...and it apparently has backfired.
Game OFFICIALLY OVER for McCain and Palin!

You're seeing the backlash of just how many others in America, including ME, despise George W. Bush
However, Elizabeth Dole ISN'T George W. Bush, nor is he on the ticket for any office.
When I see dweebs like AL FRANKEN getting elected, it just convinces me more and more that people are just voting for candidates only because of the "D" after their name and nothing else. VERY ignorant, and VERY uninformed.
HELL, I'm thinking of running as a Democrat from wherever. I'm sure to get elected if THAT'S the only qualification.
But in Dole's case, and a few other veteran Conservatives, I really think that in this election cycle, people are just expressing a frustration that just says...
"out with the old... in with the new."
It's like a generational sea change, and for me... it was a big motivator in my decision.

Yet the Democrats who were LESS effective than her get re-elected.UAHparrothead wrote:She was 93rd in effectiveness in the last 6 years, she was in the state 14 days before her first election that and the hate-filled scare tactics done her in
She was in N.C. 14 days more than Hillary Clinton was in N.Y. when she was elected there in 2000.
Sorry if I sound cliche, but it seems the only thing that matters these days is the "D" or "R" after their name.
An AXE MURDERER could get elected so long as he runs as a Democrat.

But I think the people were looking at her specifically instead of the Congress as a whole, which I agree completely with you on that one, I really think that "Godless" ad is what cost her the election.Wino you know wrote:Yet the Democrats who were LESS effective than her get re-elected.UAHparrothead wrote:She was 93rd in effectiveness in the last 6 years, she was in the state 14 days before her first election that and the hate-filled scare tactics done her in

I'll agree with YOU that that's probably the case, which re-inforces ANOTHER belief of mine, and that is that Republicans are held accountable for their deeds and actions, while the Democrats aren't.UAHparrothead wrote:But I think the people were looking at her specifically instead of the Congress as a whole, which I agree completely with you on that one, I really think that "Godless" ad is what cost her the election.

Garry, Actually I think that Kay Hagan was a well respected state senator for 10 years....so not exactly a nobody...and the folks in NC saw a reason to vote for her. We have to respect their right to do so.Wino you know wrote:I get it. I can guarantee you that you wouldn't be elected for anything in my home town with a D behind your name. In fact there were almost no democrats running for the local offices....The republicans run unchallenged...which is pretty sad. Our Sheriff and prosecutor and several other offices are running unchallenged. Here all you need is the "R" after your name.
The people in NC were at least fortunate enough to have a choice to make.

No, but I didn't vote for Al Franken and I wouldn't vote for him either given the chance.Wino you know wrote:I'll agree with YOU that that's probably the case, which re-inforces ANOTHER belief of mine, and that is that Republicans are held accountable for their deeds and actions, while the Democrats aren't.UAHparrothead wrote:But I think the people were looking at her specifically instead of the Congress as a whole, which I agree completely with you on that one, I really think that "Godless" ad is what cost her the election.

Thanks, Nancy & Brad.
Whatever happens, I love you both. Really.
And I'll promise you both (and Brad too) this-if the Democrats still have LESS than 60 seats in the Senate after tonight, I'll be a happy man.
Sorry-but the "check & balance" system of this country is a NECESSITY.
I wouldn't want 60 Republicans there either.

I'm sorry but sometimes the news networks just can't "make up their mind" so it should be really interesting to see exactly how many of those predictions come trueDezdmona wrote:Fox just called Ohio for Obama...
If that's the case this show is over.
I'm probably more interested in the Congress seats than the Presidency myself....I think some people are thinking "payback" for stupid decisions made by their senators and representatives in the past couple of weeks.
Tinley Park - June 30, Alpine - ???, Vegas -???

The folks at Team Sarah have their panties in a bunch about Fox calling so many states for Obama so early.Dezdmona wrote:Fox just called Ohio for Obama...

Seems a little strange even to me to call them so early. Are they calling them based on votes or the exit polls?

Usually "exit polls".... They wait until the polls close so that they can release their results.....buffettbride wrote:The folks at Team Sarah have their panties in a bunch about Fox calling so many states for Obama so early.Dezdmona wrote:Fox just called Ohio for Obama...

(But while those can be accurate, there's always that chance that some people who vote the OTHER way refuse to fill one of those out... Have you seen how many questions are on it???

They USED to make early predictions based on exit polling, but not this year.
