What scares me more is the Obama-Putin Gin Rummy games that will go on for four years.

1. I am a republican.

2. I am well into the highest tax bracket and am appalled people want to tax me more juts because I make more. This makes me sick about Obama being elected and taking more of my hard earned money (yes, very hard earned with a 30 year career). I already will pay $800K in taxes this year!

3. Because of my tax situation, this drives my republican view.

4. I hate the war, and the idiot decision to go into a mid east country, ironically Bin Laden was not fan of Hussein either! This has been a horrible waste of lives on all fronts, has done little and is an example of USA imperialism. This one act made me very cross with Bush.

5. McCain, I agree, this is the best we could do? I am from Arizona, most zonies do not think much of him either.

6. Palin is a joke. Go forbid she is one heart beat away from running the USA.

7. Obama, I like him, except for his tax and spend policy.

8. Yes, the stupid war is costing us, and I agree, this was money thrown out the window and lives lost is the largest crime.

9. I do believe in govmt regulation of banks and the greedy Wall street herd.

All said, I guess Obama is the one, and he will be the lesser of two evils, even though he is going to go into my pocket for another $250K. Yes, I guess many would think this is a nce problem to have versus being laid off or employed for far less money. I wish everyone made money and had jobs, just do not think I should pay an inordinate amount for everyone else and big government on top of the inordinate amount I already pay.
Well, I hear where you're coming from, and appreciate your attempting to be even-handed.

However, I find it a bit hard to relate to your "problem." Making enough money to owe $800K to the government in taxes is a "problem" I don't think I'd mind having. My one house is worth less than what I owe on it, despite having bought it with a much higher down payment than I could have gotten away with several years ago. You could buy two of them with what you paid on taxes last year. My portfolio is worth probably 20% less than it was worth just a few months ago, and I'm running out of years in which to build it up to a point where I can afford something more than a cardboard roof and cat food diet during my "golden years."

I'm not entirely sure how a "tax and spend" democrat is going to be any worse for the nation than the past eight years of "borrow and spend" republican economics. The last "tax and spend" democrat in the White House at least left us a comfortable budget surplus.

If Exxon/Mobil's profits from last year were turned into dollar bills, the pile would be over ten thousand miles high. They need "tax credits" like I need Jehovah's Witnesses camped on my front porch. I'm sorry if you feel like an Obama presidency would leave you feeling picked on. But I'm tired of feeling trickled on.

If you'd really like an additional tax writeoff, how about supporting a few Trop Rock musicians like myself in making the music that can mellow people back out again?

I'm glad to hear that there are still some Republicans out there who are willing to hear and talk sense, not just rabidly repeat whatever Rush and Sean said. Thanks for being there, and good luck leading your fellow Republicans back from the Dark Side.

I can empathize with you, and am experiencing some of the same stuff - house value down, investments down...

but...

exactly how does the government taking more money from SDPirate40 help you and me? :-?

You got a problem with that?
A very big one.
You must hate poor people.
Hate poor people? No - but my family (4 generations) has worked damn hard to save what we have. We lived with in our means - small homes, drove vehicles 10 years - no credit cards until we could afford the luxuries we know have.
So you have been successful congratulations, there are many that aren't as competent as you. It seems a little harsh that you would allow those people to suffer when you can afford to help them.
I could only read to that point.... I threw up in my mouth... so, eventhough I have only posted once or twice in this entire section... I have to say:

I suggest that "when you can afford to help them" be banned from all political talk. Very few in america can actually TRULY support entire other families with their yearly income.

If that is the economic system you prefer... dear god, please.... pretty pretty please with lots of sugar on top move to: China, Sweden, Cuba, Balarus, Vietnam, North Korea, or Venezula.

Please do not pollute our democracy or free market system with your communist ideals and completely illogical irrational thought.

The whole "other people owe me something, I shouldn't take responsibility for myself" line of thought is what is poisioning our country and there is nearly half our population trying to feed us this arsnic by voting barak obama into office.

Anyone in the middle or undecided I encourage you to carefully look at what you could be voting for. Obama is not as centerist as you would think and I would really look into some of the articles about his connections to domestic terrorist bill ayers, acorn, the chicago/daly corrupt politcal machine, tony rezko, rev. wright... all of these people are corrupt and have literally bombed, attacked, and bashed america.

This isn't about communism or capitalism, this is about justice. This is about what is right and what is wrong. This is about children dying from preventable diseases and hunger and as long as ONE CHILD dies then we are NOT the best country we can be and we never will be. There is too much God damned greed in this country I use that phrase because that is what it is, it is damned, rejected, detested by God. As a "man of the cloth" I do see things differently and as long as people are making billions of dollars on the backs of working people who struggle to feed their kids at night we are not the greatest country in the world, but it's not about being the greatest, it's not a game we try to win. It is about helping people. It's about being human beings first and Americans second. I don't think money handouts are the answer, but more money for child daycare and paying people a living wage is a good start. Now I've said my peace, agree or don't agree, but understand this I love you all and God loves you.

Sadly it is. The ideas you expound are totally appropriate for all americans to feel. I feel them everyday. However, this cannot be government legislated. The government is the least efficent vehicle to do anything in this country.

As a man of the cloth (as you describe yourself) you are more than familiar with private charity, community and church outreach. This is the way for citizens... who choose to help people to reach those who are in need.

Churches and community organizations are wonderful and can do so much to help this country.

I know I give my church 5,000 dollars to set a child care center and volunteer to work in it from time to time is much more of a help to society than giving tax and spend liberals money to investigate the eating habits of bears in montana.

The government taking our money doesn't equally everyone getting help... it equals the government getting bigger, having more controls, and giving us less freedom.

These are not talking points. They are serious concerns to me.

Obama comes out of a community and a thought that the government owes them something, that the world owes them something, that the only way to fix things are the big daddy government does it for you. Someone leading our country that thinks that is dangerous. For our world position, for our economic system, and for our personal freedom.

I don't want to pay for other people's healthcare. I just don't. It is not my obligation to. It is my obligation to take care of myself and my family. Children will die. It's an unfortunate part of the life cycle. I don't want it. In a free markey society there are winners and losers. The more winners the better and the more free the market the more oppertunity for everyone to be winners. Once people start taking care of themselves and take some personal resposnbility you will see more winners in the market. The winners do better, become secure in their winning, and than help those that need it through ways they feel comfortable.

The government is not that answer to everything.

Matthew 25:34-45
Then the king will say to those at his right hand, “Come, you that are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world; for I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you gave me clothing, I was sick and you took care of me, I was in prison and you visited me.” Then the righteous will answer him, “Lord, when was it that we saw you hungry and gave you food, or thirsty and gave you something to drink? And when was it that we saw you a stranger and welcomed you, or naked and gave you clothing? And when was it that we saw you sick or in prison and visited you?” And the king will answer them, “Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family,* you did it to me.” Then he will say to those at his left hand, “You that are accursed, depart from me into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels; for I was hungry and you gave me no food, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, I was a stranger and you did not welcome me, naked and you did not give me clothing, sick and in prison and you did not visit me.” Then they also will answer, “Lord, when was it that we saw you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not take care of you?” Then he will answer them, “Truly I tell you, just as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to me.”
