Penny is still here, just barely. ;)

But I don't see where asking anyone to stay vigilant is threatening anyone?
Yeah, I was little confused by that also....

Vigilant-keenly watchful to detect danger, wary

I don't normally pray for elected officials on a regular basis, but I will be praying for wisdom, humility, kindness, humor and patience every day for this man. He's facing a tough economic climate ... he has bridges to build across the oceans ... he as wounds to heal in this country ... and he *must* stay true to his promise to be a uniter ... and hopefully, he will be successful so that future campaigns are run on hope rather than fear and that we can agree to disagree without demonizing the other side. There *has* to be a better way to get elected.

AMEN ETP :)

It's a tough job... look at how Jimmy Carter looked after his 4 year term ended...... :-?

I would have been happy with either result... both candidates had some shortcomings but we still need a leader in office....

Penny, believe me, if I said right now what I WANT to say about this individual, you WOULD ban me.
But thanks for GETTING the meaning of my post to Funk House.
Yep. :) ;)

Well said.

I kinda like the way the Brits and Canadians have elections... "Okay, in 6 weeks we're having an election." No time to spin; you have to run on what you've already done. A few weeks and *poof*.... all done.....

DAMN RIGHT I'll complain.
But YOU'RE one of the ones who've made some pretty intelligent & well thought out posts, so for that, thank you.
Well, all I can say is that we're all in this together. I have faith that there are brighter days ahead for all of us. If I am wrong, you deserve a spot at the front of the line to complain. But, Barack needs to be given a chance. We can't expect an immediate turnaround. After all, from my perspective, he has quite a mess to clean up. In a Democracy, we trust that the majority will make the best decision for all. Let's hope that we have.
Yes sir, we ARE in this together.
And there are ALWAYS going to be brighter days ahead-each day will always be better than the last if you make it so.
My motto is this-if the country is in a mess, or preceived to be in a mess, maybe it's a bad thing, but I choose not to participate.
You're a smart guy, you seem like the kind of person who'd do VERY well on his own, therefore, you shouldn't participate in any negativity of this nation either.
Onward and upward.
Have fun, but stay vigilant.
Stay Vigilant? GARRY- Are you now threatening fellow BNers?
The Moderators ( Hello Penny) need to ban you from this site. You are a sick human being.
NOW STOP THAT CRAP! Garry is a fine person and he isn't threating anyone!

Victors need to be gracious!

Sorry about the Caps and Cr*p!
OK - The You tell me what " Stay Vigilant 'means. Let's not play games.
I am a Very gracious victor.
Vigilant means to maintain their watch!

Garry is a Conservative, and guess what, I am not. But I have absolutely no problem with Garry keeping watch. He see things different then you and I, but NO ONE can question, him being a great person.

You are not being gracious, in my opinion.

Be Happy, just don't rub it in! :x

We have witnessed history and I'm glad I lived to see it.

I believe Obama will work hard to bring us together and will help us build bridges with our foreign friends.

I believe he has what it takes to lead us through the difficult times ahead. I believe he will work for a consensus rather than use a heavy hand to get his way.

The three words I keep hearing all night are

Unity
Hope
Equality

He has set the bar very high ... and I believe he will be able to rise to the occasion ... he'll bring out our better angels and we will all be better to have lived during the next 4 years.

I wish my granddaddy was here to witness this ... and Lucille, the lady who raised my brother and me ... they would have loved this moment.

'Night, all.

God Bless America.
God Bless Barack Obama
God Bless us all.
Tonight is historic, that is true. And I hope your belief in Obama's better angels is borne out. I wish I could share your faith in this man.

May God Bless America.

May God Guide President Obama.

May God Keep And Protect Us All.

Evening, setlisters

Got home 90 minutes after our polls closed-a fairly efficient evening for us!

Seeing and talking to voters today--lots of first time voters; lots of folks who had not voted in years; lots of people expressing excitement and hope.

Whatever your politics, whoever your candidate....Barack Obama is our President-Elect. Let's all find a way to set aside some of the sniping and wish him and our country well.

If Obama is as wise as some think he is, and he's been compared to Kennedy many times..

he'll study that history...Kennedy was very suspicious of his own party, and even more suspicious of liberals.
