Didn't get a chance to thank you for your great service in this election!!
THANK YOU, EJR!!!
Thanks-just doing my small part for the process-just wish I could get more non-seniors to serve as election judges.
Funny you should bring that up. God love 'em, they're doing a great service, but could they maybe get a little more training? At least in my precinct? I was in the first group of voters this a.m. and I think 2 of the 5 at the desk must have skipped the training sessions.
Our judges take a 3 hour class every two years, but each precinct has one judge who gets paid more but goes to a 4+ hour class before each election, and passes a series of hands on tests (me).
It is a lot of work, and a lot of detail, and speaking as someone who has done this for 17 years, the first time or two is really confusing, no matter how much training you have had.
I'm sure there's a lot more behind the scenes than I know about. My guy today was going a little crazy with the yellow highlighter on the page, till the supervisor sprinted over.
We also had to show ID today, I don't believe in the past we had to do that.
We have no highlighter, and we are not allowed to require ID except in certain circumstances. You can always ask them to show you where in their manual/rules, it indicates that an ID is required. If your law was changed, fine; if not, it risks disenfranchising legitimate voters.
We have to show ID here in Ohio as well. A new rule!
Thank you for your hard work today and for the last 17 years.

I just hope Obama is going to be as good a President as his supporters think he will.
Where was all this unity over the last 8 years? How much did Obama reach across the aisle as a Senator?
I am with those that are saying give Obama some time in Office and see what happens to see if there is anything worth really celebrating. Remember what Joe Biden said about the first six months in office.

Good question
I, for one, will give Obama some time to really show the country what his leadership style will be. I hope he realizes that almost 50% of the country didn't want him as their leader, and reaches out to them. Only when that happens can there be unity. Otherwise, it's Politics and Partisan BS all over again.

He definitely has some shoes to fill, that's for sure. He's not going into this with a clean slate and he set some high expectations for himself. I think he is capable of it, but it really comes down to execution. If he works as hard at being President as he does at campaigning, I think we'll see results. The Presidency changes people, that's for sure.

yes, but 52% of the voters did want Obama vs. 46% for McCain......which is a larger majority than W. had in 2000 (48%....and Gore got more of the popular vote) or in 2004 when W. got 50.5% of the vote.
I am suprised it was over at 10:00 Central last night. What a party in Grant Park. What a speech by Obama...John McCain bowed out with all the grace and dignity that I expected from him....
Can we get those 2009 dates yet
I thank the Lord for the people I have found
