They have not started messing with the music channels yet, that will get interesting
You think they did this to benefit the *consumer*????Tropic_Al wrote:So, if I want some xm channels on my Sirius subscription, I have to pay another $4.00 per month? So where's the advantage to the consumer for the merger?

They would say the benefit is you now have the option of getting XM channels on Sirius and vice-versa. Then they would say they now offer al-a-cart pricing for $6.00per-mo for certain music stations so people can save money. You have to pay more of courseI read over the weekend that in the first week it was 4-1 ratio of XM subscribers adding the "Best of Sirius", they attribute that to the XM subscribers wanting Howard Stern who in truly bad timing is on vacation err honeymooning this week.
For some reason they didn't make Radio Margaritaville part of the options available to XM and the biggest issue people with Sirius have is the MLB package which is not available to Sirius subscribers. Someone at XM said it is becaus eof a contact issue with MLB and MLB should be available to Sirius subscribers in 2009.
The full benefits of the "merger" won't really be seen for a few year's when they can launch a new Satellite and start making new radios that can pick up both signals. And by then the FCC stipulations they set on pricing would be expired and Sirius-XM can charge anything they want.
Evetually, you will be able to get what you want. But, as far as getting Best of Sirisu/ Best of XM, of course it's going to cost a little more since you have to pay the talent and licensing fees that go along with that programming.BigR-KyParrothead wrote:BottleofRum wrote:TropicalTroubador wrote:You think they did this to benefit the *consumer*????Tropic_Al wrote:So, if I want some xm channels on my Sirius subscription, I have to pay another $4.00 per month? if i can get mlb next summer, i will be happy
i though about switching to xm, since i can now get the nfl...but radio margaritaville is not available
they marketed this merger as consumers would be able to "CHOOSE WHAT THEY WANTED"....NOT SO!
