The Elks want to tan your hide

GREELEY, CO - The Elks - a national charitable organization - is asking hunters to donate their hides for a good cause.

It’s called the Veterans Leather Program and, basically, the Elks turn donated hides into fingerless leather gloves for disabled veterans.

I'm a hunter and know many other hunters....will pass this around.
There used to be a local place that would trade a hide for a pair of gloves. They were great gloves. Deer hides are much more supple than cowhide and while they don't last as long, are much nicer to wear.

I remember talking about elk hunting with a guy in a Santa suit once (we both took shelter at a Tiki bar in a downpour . . i think Becky and some of her special jello shots were also present . . . )
