Most of Jimmy's songs are about abstract places that he put together from little bits and pieces of places from all over.

One Particular Harbour, for example, was written in Tahiti, but he has mentioned a lot of places being a "One Particular Harbour", in tours and such.

So, while no songs probably mention Costa Rica by name (that I can think of) I imagine some of his songs were at least partially inspired by it.

I think a lot of it is by design. As the saying goes, Margaritaville is wherever you want it to be.

"Cowboy In The Jungle" always makes me think of that type of AREA in Central America.

That would be a really good one. No direction mention of Coasta Rica, but still does the trick.

Maybe 12 Volt Man?

Upon further review, Twelve Volt Man would be a bad one because the lyrics mention Mexico. My bad

In Manana the protagonist goes from Ecuador to Mexico, ostensibly flying over Costa Rica.

Yea, but you made me read about Jimmy going to Isla Mujeres and Michael Nesmith in Baja. :) :)

Jimmy’s Notes:
Michael Nesmith once told me a story about a man he ran into down in Baja who is the unknown inspiration for this song. During the Baja race, Michael had broken down somewhere near East Jesus and went to a small village to wait for his repair team. He ran into an American, a fisherman who lived in a small hut with what he called his “essentials”. He had a collection of my albums, packaged margarita mix from America, an old Waring blender, and a tape player hooked up to a peculiar power system made out of a Honda generator and a Sears Die Hard battery. It seems he would fish all week, and on Friday night, he and his friends would hook up the blender and tape player and make margaritas while they sang along to my songs. This ceremony would last until the gas for the generator dried up. I got the inspiration to write this when I was in Isla Mujeres, a small island near Cancun, where life had escaped most of the twentieth century. The tough part was rhyming Die Hard, but with a few inspiring margaritas, the word came. This is one of my favorite songs.

If you want songs that mention CR, you gotta go to Jerry Jeff's.

This is a really great question for today. I have actually found myself with a purpose this afternoon, find songs or something along the way that might be in the general direction of a song about Costa Rica.

I have had no luck. I am not giving up hope
