Long Island, New York....Blue Point Brewery's HOPTICAL ILLUSION. Woo! My favorite :D And you can go to the brewery on weekends to sample about 10 beers (3 oz. pours or so) for free. Yum yum.

Old Dominion Brewery. After drinking my way around a lot of this country, I will stick with this local brewery. Hoepfully I will be able to get it when we move further south.

Vermont has more breweries per capita than any state in the Country.....Long Trail's Harvest Ale, Otter Creek's Oktoberfest, Trout River's Rainbow red are all excellent seasonal beers I'd put up against Sam Adams.
But in all fairness, I love 'em all....so let's sing together

blowinupinmissoula wrote:this should be easy as sam adams is the worst microbrew in the country  sorry to be the buzz kill on the beer forum, just my opinion. right now we have Big Sky Slow Elk Oatmeal Stout, Bayern Octoberfest, and Kettlehouse Festival of the Dead Pale Ale. all good with any wonderful montana meat product, such as fresh bison burgers, or elk steak.... :D

Not to argue semantics but I wouldn't call Sam Adams a micro brew anymore. It is quite a large brew. But that being said I am curious about your statement that Sam Adams is "the worst micro brew in the country". That implies you have had ALL the micro brews in the country. Which, if true, is quite impressive. I actually want your autograph. :D
haha i figured this was coming. i simply consider it a microbrew because it creates many different beers with an emphasis on taste/quality/product, not simply production for the masses (ie-busch, etc) that point can be argued, but i think that sam adams can still be referred to as a microbrew, just not in the purest sense. i have not had all the microbrews in the country, although id like to think im close :) obviously if i truly cared about the validity of my statement i wouldnt have phrased it the way i did. i simply saw sam adams being discussed on a good beer thread, and jumped at the opportunity. i dunno ive tried it a bunch, the regular and seasonal and at best can choke down the lager. its just not worth the price. id take a PBR over a sam adams any day. now some chliche's-to each his own, you are what you drink, agree to disagree?
If I had it all to do over again, I'd just get myself drunk and I'd jump right back in...

Any state want to challenge?

(and Sam Adams Octoberfest in season right now is tough to beat; thanks again Ravi for providing such wonderful Sam Adams produced nectar at the Great - Great Woods Hurricane Party of 2008!).

:D
You're welcome and don't forget we also have Harpoon, brewed at their plant on Northern Avenue in South Boston, MA.
If you want an experience, go to a Jimmy Buffett concert.

Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.

Life is short, live long!!

Although my FAVORITE beer is brewed in Bridgewater Corners, VT at:

They have a nice little tavern with good food where you can try their beers. 8) I suggest the "Sampler Tray".

If you're talking quality, being from KC, I definately have your back on this one.

However if you're referring to mass consumption, there's not a state in the US that can touch WISCONSIN.

15 Years ago, Red Hook was among the best around. Sadly, that is no longer the case.

I'm not going brag on Missouri, there are too many states that have it beat. Although we do have a couple of good breweries in Schlafly, O'Fallon and Boulevard.

In Virginia, Old Dominion makes great stuff. I think their Summer Wheat is awesome. Lots of people I know like their Oak Barrel. While you can still get bottles of this stuff at your local grocery store, the restaurant itself has closed down. This means, I assume, you can't bring in your growler to get refilled. That sucks.

green1 - you moving?

Is this the stuff for the Sweet Water restaurant? I think they and Hard Times rebrand Dominion Lager as their own brew. Actually, maybe I'm wrong - I seem to remember big beer tanks at the Sweet Water in Sterling.

I usually start in a state of confusion and live in a state of drunkness.

In either state, any beer will do!
