Hey everyone, I heard a song the other day that I thought would work great for Buffett to cover. I know how everyone wishes he would cover less and write more, but it is what it is, so check it out if you want to and tell me what you think. The link is for the myspace site of a guy named Hayes Carll (is actually friends with Wil Kimbrough) and the song is "I Got A Gig" -- lemme know what y'all think

I've Got A Gig seems like a song for a struggling artist.

Man I lived and sang that song daily during a trip to Tulum.
Great song!
If there's gotta be a cover I think Jimmy could "Buffettize"

He should cover more of his own songs - especially new ones that haven't been written, recorded or released yet.

I'm in agreement with less covers and more Buffett originals but I have to pick one I'd say

Pancho And Lefty has been overdone - sort of like some other tunes we know of.

I heard Roger Clyne cover it but that's about it in the last 20 years.
Any TVZ would be incredible to hear.

I"ve always thought the Saw Doctor's "I'll Be on My Way" (the happiest song about death I've ever heard) pretty much begs for Buffett to cover it.
Of course, he could also change a couple of words here and there to add some references to growing up in L.A. and cover Kid Rock's "All Summer Long".
Jimmy and the Parrot's "Yea Mon" would be a good one for him to cover.
