Welcome, shrimperdon!! Congrats on having a very talented daughter. It's nice to know about her singing with Nadirah.
I was just telling some friends at Last Man Standing, how Club Trini used to perform outside the venues before a few tours. That was always so much fun, being able to enjoy their performance out WITH the parrotheads.

shrimperdon wrote:Just to let you all know...the young lady singing back-up with Nadirah and also doing "Walking in Memphis" name is Mallory Escott. She is originally from Danbury, CT but now resides in Westhampton, NY on Long Island. She should be recognized by her many show appearances when Club Trini used to play before the actual concerts starting at the age of ten(boy do I really miss them performing!). You are correct about singing Cheeseburger with Jimmy. That occurred in Manassas VA. in 2001. She also has had the chance to be in the opening number in the "Carnival" tour in Great Woods, MA. You will have to forgive me on the date of this. After all I am that old..

she is also an actor and dancer (appearing on TV and on small parts on the big screen and just flat out loves to perform for anyone. Look for her in the upcoming NBC show "Kings". You can also contact her if you wish on her "Meet the PHlockers" home page. ... and if you haven't figured it out yet, I am also a
very proud Dad. I love you Mallory!!
Congrats! You must be beaming!

Awesome review Tiki B! I can't really add to what was already said, butI am so glad that I made the trip to Las Vegas, and I am so glad that I went to Nadirah's show. What a voice and what an awesome band loaded with talent.
I think the thing that I loved best about her whole show is that Nadirah show cased the talent in her band and gave them a chance to show what they could do. She is doing for them what Jimmy does; making lesser folks known and bringing the talent to the forfront for all to see.
It was great meeting Nadirah, and my guide dog Sammie even fell in love with Nadirah. Sammie made sure that Nadirah gave her a few seconds of attention.
It was a fantastic evening, and it was great to be there along with a bunch of BNers.

Yes it really was me. I could not believe it and was really lucky. I had bought some raffle tickets and my friend Vinnie from California who we met at the Paris show shared tickets with me and bought 3 times more than me. She really wanted to win the painting and gave me her tickets while she went for a meal at the Flamingo and said she trusted me with her tickets. When they called the number out I had all the stack of tickets and my ticket actually won the prize. Hubby had already told her if I won I would give her the prize (oh dear) as we would never be able to get it to England. We went to the Flamingo where they were eating at 2 am and she screamed when she saw the painting. I gave it to her as they are hoping to buy a bar in St Maarten and will hang the picture on the wall of the bar. We will be able to visit the bar and everyone from the US will be able to see this painting and the story behind it. Hope everyone agrees that the painting would be better on a bar wall for everyone to see than on the wall in our house in England. I have not taken any money for the painting and people stopped me wanting it. The painting is beautiful and the night at Margaritaville was fantastic and so is Nadirah. l
Pics that YorkshirePH emailed to me: (she'll get us his name soon too - Thank you M!

)
That's going to be a great piece to hang in a St Maarten bar, and you'll always have the fond memories hanging right along with it!

If I could have the chance to relive last weekend again I sure would. The whole weekend was so fun. Next year I have every intention of going back to Las Vegas, and I sure hope that Nadirah does another show.

Is this by any chance the artist that did the picture of Nadirah and Jimmy at Margaritaville? His name is Ronald Jackson.
If it's not, forgive me, but there is a strong resemblance and I got an email that sounded like he is the artist who was there.

I am also sure you could be right about this. I think that this was the name on the frame at the back of the painting. I will know for sure when I receive the email from Vinnie. Thanks so much Tiki Bar for putting the photo on here.

great thread.....thanks for posting the great review JoAnn...this is the kinda stuff I come to BN for
Sounds like an amazing evening, wish I could have been there. Nadirah is one of the few artists who's voice can bring me to tears.(in a good way)

Her voice is so uplifting and powerful.
Welcome to BN Shrimperdon, and congrats on your daughter Mallory's success. You'll have to either convince Mallory to join us, or keep us up to date on her career
Yorkshire Parrothead, what an amazing friend you are. You'll have to let us know when your friends get their bar opened so we can all go see the picture...like i need another excuse to head to the islands

Thank You!
