This thread makes me chuckle. It would seem I'm the only one who wouldn't mind moving North. My wife and I occasionally talk about moving to VT; all the outdoor winter stuff we could do, all my college buddies I could see more often, all the covered bridges I could cross. ;)

But, we are pretty darn happy here in VA near family and friends and we enjoy everything the DC area has to offer. Yeah I've been here my whole life and sometimes I wish I could pack up my stuff and get out of dodge (especially any year evenly divisible by 4. But I believe life is what you make it. So make it the best you can. :D

Oh, and I'm not going to MOTM. Never been. Probably will never go.

It's cold here this morning......yep, that happens in the mountains....and YES, in a few weeks I will be b*tching about the snow....BUT right now, the fall colors are still glorious, the apples are crisp, the air smells so good, the leaves crunch under my feet, my dogs are extra snuggly, flannel sheets are the BOMB......overall, there may be other place I would want to try out, but right now this is HOME....and after all, isn't THAT what's important!

(PS...I've NEVER been to MOTM and who knows if I will.....but such is life)
Anyone who knows me here on BN knows I am generally a glass is half full kinda guy, and I live by the mantra "live for today, plan for tomorrow".
That said, where I make my home doesn't feel like home. I don't feel like I'm home til I'm on vacation, and it's a weird feeling to have 300+ days out of the year, that you don't belong. I'm a beachbum, most here ski. I could go on but I won't bore ya with details.
It's to the point I just got back from Tampa 36 hours ago, and am already looking at airfare to head back. Somehow I'll make it thru 10 more winters and then enjoy the rest of my life where I was meant to be. It's funny the things you do for love, huh?

you sound just like me. when the temp goes below 80 in august, i'm already looking into going someplace south. i get depressed in november and then it relaxes a bit in dec because i love christmas. when february hits, look out ( hence my sig lines ). if i really had a gun, more than the refrig would be shot. some way, some how, i'll be a snow bird. it's my someday i will :D

I absolutely hate this Ohio weather! But the thing about it is all the bad weather, not seeing the ocean, no warm salty breezes... makes me appreciated it so much more when I do get those things, even if it is only one or two weeks out of the year.

Hang in there y'all it's just starting to get cold we have a long winter in front of us!

Mine too, Jill. But they're often like that. I love the company I work for, and the department I'm in. It's the people and 'stuff' I have to deal with that sucks sometimes. But I'm closing in on 50 years old.. and am ever so grateful I have the job I do. So I try to keep smiling, like Albert said I should. :D

That and it was nearly 80 today.. close to that tomorrow and Friday. :D LOTS of sunshine. I'll take one day at a time, and enjoy it as much as I can.

Warm thoughts to you, too. :D

It's unsually cold here in NE Florida which blows because I'm outside most of the day. I had long johns and two pairs of socks on with plastic grocery bags between each pair today
After a just couple of days of this, I wish it was sticky balls hot!!
I'll take a sweaty back and beach sand in my crack anyday.

I've never made it to MOTM, I'm not in a PH Club and probably never will do either. I can't wait for my next trip to the Keys though!

I miss those parking meters. We don't have any around here. I guess I'll have to drink loaded Landsharks and get silly.ImageImage

Well, as the philosopher JT sez, "The secret of life is enjoying the passage of time."
So, we gotta enjoy where we are when we are there. Yes, I'd rather be on the beach in the Keys right now but I'm living near the Ga.-Fla. border where the weather stays temperate much of the time.
Among other places, I've lived in the mountains of Virginia and West Virginia and lived through snow drifts that about covered my car. Although I don't miss that weather, it was exhilarating being out in the cold, crisp, frosty air as the falling snow deadens the sound of the world around you.
No matter where you are, just take the weather with you.... 8)
