We voted this morning and took Victoria as we have every year since she was 5. She thinks voting is groovy.
Every time there was a first-time voter, the volunteer ladies would announce it and people would "woohoo!" and cheer. Victoria is bummed 'cause she can't vote yet.

Also voted absentee for Obama. Sent the ballot in a couple weeks ago.
Hell, there was no that this political science student at the country's most politically active school was NOT voting

I liked and supported John McCain in 2000. Until he laid down for the Bush machine. Mr. McCain is no where near the candidate he was in 2000. That is disappointing. I feel a vote for Mr. McCain at this point is a vote for four more years of Bush/Cheney.

We are close, I think, but I do believe BN is a little more to the right of center.
I think it's lent to our age demographic, and overall positioning of each of us in red/blue states.
On Tuesday, I'm still betting you see the popular vote up to 10 points apart,
and an electoral college that will be even more slanted, to the point of landslide.

I volunteered a day last week at the State Board of Elections...they are currently getting up to
EIGHT THOUSAND CALLS A DAY from registered voters making sure they know where their polling place is. It was a very interesting day!

pbans wrote:I went and voted early on Wednesday......the lines were still quite long, took about 45 minutes. There was a young girl in front of me voting for the first time....I felt like such a dork because it made me kind of teary....I was just so proud to see her there and so many people out voting......
I live in Utah, so I KNOW how most of them were voting.....but it did not diminish for ONE SECOND the pride that I felt.....even though I voted quite differently than most of them probably did.
I took Caitlin with me....it gave me great pride to be able to go down the ballot with her...explaining the initiatives and why I voted the way I did.....
she will be able to vote in the NEXT presidential election and I am so glad that I've had the chance to be an example for her.....
Seriously, I don't care how anyone votes....who they campaign for, who they put on a concert for.....but please, be informed and then
JUST VOTE.
We will take our 4yo daughter and try to explain it as best we can to her. This year we will take our son too . . . he's too young to discuss it with but he will be a part of our process . . .
I'm with you on this one Paige not that you and I don't agree usually . . . .

I'm guessing that most, if not all, of the votes for 3rd party candidates are from those that are disillusioned and not happy with either Obama or McCain.
Now if Mings was an option...

Robert Barr is on the ticket because he feels McCain is not conservative enough, Ralph Nader is on the ticket because he feels Obama is not liberal enough, and I've never heard of that other guy.
As for Cynthia McKinney, she's a bona-fide NUT CASE, and belongs in the rubber room at Oakdale.

More than 40% of the registered voters in the county where I live have already voted in advance voting. 40% BEFORE Election Day! This is unheard of!!!

(I haven't voted yet. Love to wait until the last minute!)

Wouldn't it be awesome if they disclosed the early voting numbers before Tuesday. It would certainly create some drama or a fizzled ending to a charged election . . . .
NOBODY STEAL MY IDEA!

With the "Contract with America" That the Rep Passed in '94. I think that the "GOP" Ripped off this great counrty. If I was ever going to do stand-up, I would read the "Contract with America" Funny, That is one of the biggest pile of C.... that was ever passed. The "GOP" sold out many hard working americans to pad the bottom line. If it wasn't so sad it could be funny. I have crossed party lines before, but, right now I would never and I mean never vote for any "GOP" . Even their title is a lie. Grand Old Party... 1860. Democrats 1840. What gives????
