How close was I?

Two months ago, I predicted that there would be at least 5 (likely newbie) BNers that would proclaim that they are no longer fans of Jimmy Buffett's music for the totally idiotic reason that Jimmy has a different political opinion than they do.

I count two in the last week (SouthernSeas, FreeRider45)

How many others have I missed while I've been busy?
Was I close with the over/under?

For the record, I believe that political beliefs have nothing to do with musical taste. I claim neither to agree with, or disagree with, Jimmy's political views. The only view that I have is that if you choose to deny yourself of a pleasure for something this petty, it's your own fault when you are miserable.

I, for one, have stopped listening to Jimmy's music.

That's because the "Barometer Soup" C.D. just ended on the C.D. player

I will never listen to Jimmy Buffett again b/c he endorses candidates that I do not endorse.

I will never drink an Anheiser Busch product again b/c they are moving to a foreign country.

I will never use anything made of plastic again, b/c it was probably made in a foreign country.

I will not drink McDonald's coffee b/c I might spill it and burn on myself.

My nose grows longer by the minute.

I HAVE boycotted Sears, though, because years ago they wrecked my car. Seriously.

I did a little searching for ya, Jim.. since I know you work crazy hours, and Elena keeps you busy. ;)

May Jimmy and all his "Obama" fans enjoy their socialized medicine and BIGGER government. And all those terrorist /PLO contacts....Is everyone ready to pray to Mecca 5 times a day???
Jimmy has chosen to make his music and his business political.
I am choosing after many years to no longer be a fan of his.
Good - bye Jimmy Buffet!!!!!!!

That's the problem.

And you can call me a one post person or whatever you call them. But I wanted to actually email Jimmy Buffett directley, but there is no where to do that. This was all I could find.

Subject: Comments
Body: What's up everyone?! Hope everyone is enjoying Halloween with their family and friends. Just wanted to send out a quick note about the comments recently on the page. I understand many people are very passionate about their political views. The only thing I ask is that you please keep your comments rated G in respect for the other members and children who often visit this page. This page is a medium for all Parrotheads to come together and share stories, pics, listen to music and reconnect with fellow Parrotheads everywhere. Please keep foul language and harsh comments off the page. Politics and religion are two things that always manage to bring the very best and worst out of people. I ask all of you to please be thoughtful of others and keep this page clean and free of negative and hate filled words/thoughts. Again, this MySpace page is supposed to cultivate happy and positive feeling for everyone. I respect everyone and their political beliefs and encourage you to vote and voice your opinion.

Remember it takes more muscles to frown than smile so turn that frown upside down.
:o)

Fins up everyone and have a great Halloween!

i posted this in another forum too... from jimmys' myspace...comrade..

This reminds me of an article I read in the Weekend magazine that comes with the Sunday paper...

Peanuts creator Charles Schulz was a man interested in politics. So it's fitting that his "Peanuts" gang has teamed with Rock the Vote to encourage us all to get to the polls Tuesday. "He turned everything into a joke," says Jean Schulz, his widow. "So we have Charlie Brown as spokesman for the Wishy-Washy party. That's what [Schulz] would say he was. For a while, [Schulz] was a 'declines to state,' which means you're not a Republican or a Democrat or an Independent." Don't decline to state your preference at peanutsrocksthevote.com. You can vote for Snoopy, Charlie Brown, Linus, Lucy or Sally for president. Consider it practice for Election Day.

Are we counting the comments section of news stories on the front page (that is different from the message board)? You've got a few there too, most recently from "Jason" in the setlist news story.

Bob Roberts' "Vote for change.....Jimmy is" thread will probably drum up a few more of these types of posts. Stay tuned, I think your over/under will be exceeded without a problem.
