Just woke up to my text message on my phone... my sister in law in Miami giving me the news. What a kick in the nuts.
I feel like my uncle just died.

Sail on...
I think it is appropriate that he decided to leave on November 1st...the day that Catholics celebrate "All Saints Day" to honor all the saints...and it is also "Día de los Muertos" or "Day of the Dead" when millions celebrate those that have passed. Part of the wikipedia entry for Day of the Dead reads..."Toys are brought for dead children (los angelitos, or "the little angels"), and bottles of tequila, mezcal or pulque or jars of atole for adults."

Very sad news to be learned early this morning. Every one of my Key West trips were enlightened when I would make the trip to the bar to see the legend. I only hoped my one day, my fiance could meet him to. On our Key West in the spring, she would have had that opportunity.
Capt. Tony was a really cool dude. He would sit and talk with anyone. I had many conversations with him about Jimmy, old Key West, women, and the resident ghost of the Saloon. Very knowledgable man and I have a huge respect for him. I only hope that the bar will continue like it has for so many, many years.
My thoughts and prayers are with the family. Sail on Capt. Tony...you'll be missed.

I would not be the least bit surprised if there are now at least 2 residents ghosts in the saloon.....
