And no matter how good a seat you GOT you'll still be disappointed.
It was just awful, plus they packed the parking lot so tight there was barely room to walk around. And getting BACK to your car was a nightmare, bad lighting, few signs. blech.
Did you get the "Premier" parking or the regular parking? We were packed so tight at Mansfield that anyone who showed up after us had no where to setup their tailgate, their was room between the cars for one EZup only. There is a boat load more room for tailgating at Gillette. I went, I saw and it was not good in Mansfield.
I could have lived with the parking but being in the best possible seat and still feeling like he was miles away soured me on big stadiums. It was terrible. I've been to GW 5 times now and only once in premier parking and we've always had more room than we had at Gillette. But my biggest gripe is the sheer size and how far away the stage was. I'd have felt royally gypped if I'd ponied up for any kind of seat further away than maybe the 6th row.
we had plenty of roo both days!!!...1st night seats were good 8th row.....2nd day was lawn..but a lot of fun....sound is a lot better at GW then Gillete...and the traffic is a lot worse at Gillette then GW!!!...we got out easily both nights at GW!!

Philly was the most fun we had tail-gating, but the best show (outside of the recent one at the Mohegan Sun Margaritaville) was at the Mohegan Sun Arena. I know expensive, but you only live once and I already owe so much, what's a little more. Two weeks after tickets went on sale, I got tickets 2 rows behind the stage. Jimmy had a mike back there and played to the crowd behind a good bit of the time. The Garden is also not a bad experience - no tailgating but seats are all decent.

If you want an experience, go to a Jimmy Buffett concert.

Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.

At Gillette I was on about where the 50 yd. line would be for a football game about 20 rows back, yes Jimmy was just a little blob and you could only really see him on the big screen. The seats we had at GW were a couple of rows short of the back of the covered pavilion center stage, Jimmy was still just a blob on the stage and you could only really see him on the big screen there as well.

Maybe in past years the tailgating in Mansfield has been better, maybe the sound system in Mansfield is usually better but they had a bad sound guy this time. I don't know. I've only got this year at GW and last year at Gillette to judge from. So maybe it's been better in past years but if you only had these two years to judge from, my perspective, it would be hard to argue GW is better I think.

Though If I could have really seen Jimmy at either location I imagine I would have preferred that venue too.

Everyone's entitled to their opinion, but mine differs from yours, big time. Never mind the parking lot. I go mostly for the show, and stadium shows are horrible.... Way too big.... I'll take Great Woods every single time. And in this economy, tickets aren't even a big problem. I couldn't sell a ticket in Section 3 for GW last year and ended up eating it. There are tickets if you want them....

I hear you SGH, next year I'm waiting until the last minute to get tickets. Now that I've been to a few of Jimmy's concerts next time I want to actually see Jimmy in person. I can watch him on the big screen anytime I want you know?

Call me crazy but I heard that next years tour will be an all Canadian Tour--the new album will be called "Frozen Margarita" and will feature Neil Young, BNL--just a thought

It's absolutely worth it to sit up close. You take a risk, though. A couple of us sat in the third row in Atlantic City but the tickets were bought that morning when someone on ebay who had been asking much more dumped them at face value. We could just as easily have been in the nosebleeds that day. If you can get to a general admission show (like Newport last year) you can always pay in sweat equity (show up eeeearly and stake out a spot) to be up close. :D

I do hope Jimmy is playing Vegas on Oct. 17th 2009. Continental Drifter III, myself & Pa-Billo will be there after our trip to San Diego & Palm Desert. Maybe we can finally make it to the Last Man Standing Party.

this will be my only post about tour dates until March 2009 or, unless, Jimmy knocks on my front door and hands me a piece of paper and says "hey, here are the 2009 tour dates - post these f*ckers on Buffettnews!".

sadly, it would seem people are serious: so here we go - I bet that someting in July there will be a week where he hits, call me crazy, the same f'n venues he plays every year. Then he will take most of August off. Crazy, I know. Then hit Massachusetts at or around Labor Day - within a week. My gawd, I must be psychic! At some point people will complain about the North East and Great Woods getting two shows. People (me!) will make fun of those who don't. Life goes on.

too funny.

Ahhhh.....tour talk, how fun!

Sitting in my east coast second home, a NYC in my 14th floor apartment on 48th street looking at the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree now being covered in snow. Wife and daughters on the way here but delayed at the gate in San Diego due to the storm.

Thinking about Jimmy, tailgates and Summer

I hope Jimmy does Great Woods, not Gillette. I went to both Gillette shows in our tour bus, and have been to 16 Great Woods shows. I thought Gillette was an armed marine base. Two state troopers every ten feet. I guess the previous week's country fest made them nervous. We had fun in the tailgate, but not like Great Woods. One of the shows we were halfway up on the premiere deck, the other 10 rows from the stage. The lower seating was much better, but darn, the hike to the bathroom was killer.

For us west coast phans, we want Jimmy back in San Diego's Chula Vista venue, AND Irvine Meadows! Of course, I would love to see him again in Maui, but we need to teach hawaiians to tailgate and go nuts during the show. Seemed like a corporate event, when I stood up people got ticked.

We are also hedging our bets with multiple stops this year including The Eagles and Chesney shows as we most likely will see only 6 or 7 Buffett shows due to his limited touring.

I am anxioius to see the announcement whenever it comes!
