Re: 09 Tour Dates
I just got off the phone with my phriend who does consessions @ Toyota park in ILL. Jimmy will play at least 1 date at Toyota park. As soon as I hear, I will report back. Smaybe I'll work instead of tickets. But, then, I would not be able to drink. Tickets. That sounds better.

Re:
No offense jeepndd, but YUCK! Don't get me wrong - the tailgating at Foxboro was great but it was too much. GW is just the right size to be able to walk around and take in all the festivities. At Foxboro I couldn't even tour 1/2 of my lot.jeepndd wrote:Hopefully Jimmy changes from GreatWoods back to Gillette. The sound is better, the parking is better, the lot attendants are nicer, and the police are friendlier. Now that I have been to GreatWoods to see a Jimmy Buffett concert in all it's glory I can only wonder what the hell is everyone talking about when they say GreatWoods is better because it wasn't even a close second to Gillette?
As far as the venue, there is no contest. The atmosphere in GW is electric and intimate. I was in the 2nd row at Foxboro and I felt like I was in another zip code.
This will probably be my last northeast show so I'm really hoping for GW.

Re: 09 Tour Dates
Well my favorite site show is the Shell in Waikiki.
Small, good views of stage even from the lawn. Down side, short show due to 'noise' cerfews and no tail gating
It is not uncommon for Jimmy to be there in April....... Would fit for the contest timelines, and be after spring break, so rates often go down. For tailgating, Irvine wins!!!!

I agree with Chris. Gillette is NOT a good venue for a concert. I have seen a few concerts at either Gillette or Foxborough Stadium and they have all sucked. Great Woods is MUCH better.C-Dawg wrote:Wow.....sorry, but I have to disagree. The two aren't even in the same league. If you want an experience, go to a Jimmy Buffett concert.
Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.
Life is short, live long!!
I'd rather be a wiseass than a dumbass.

i hated gillette and hope he never returns. even with "close seats" we felt a mile away and felt that security was way tight.great woods is the only place for jimmy.

Re: 09 Tour Dates
Won't happen. Jimmy won't do Blossom because the morons running the place don't allow tailgating. He's very unlikely to do Browns Stadium, for a variety of reasons, I think, first being that they just aren't all that amenable to concerts in general. (That's why there aren't many there.) Also, I wouldn't want him to do one there, because then there's no affordable seats that are worth it. I mean, c'mon, the only seats they'd probably sell for what you pay for a lawn seat would be the nosebleed seats, and who wants to sit there? You wouldn't be able to see well, being a million miles away, but unlike the million-mile-out seats on the lawn, there isn't much room or ability to party there, either. On top of which, security would probably be dicks like they are at almost anything going on in that stadium, so you would have to leave most of the regalia and fun items at home.V-town Fin Truck wrote:COUNT ME IN FOR THAT!!! Re: 09 Tour Dates
Yeah lets not kid ourselves here. Gillette is terrible. There is no public transportation so everyone has to drive, which just leads to more drunk people on the roads (unfortunately it is true). The parking is so scattered. You could be in a lot, on somebodys front lawn, in a car dealership (where I was), or by a pizza place. Just nuts. Annnnnnd yes, the seating is not great in Gillette. And the final complaint is when I saw Jimmy at Gillette, the alcohol was shut off right when his set started. weaksauce
Maybe it's because in spite of all the work we do, it's the child in us we really value.

Re: 09 Tour Dates
Both Cincy and Pittsburgh are great concert sites for JB. Riverbend in Cincy is where I first saw him, back in '88. I don't remember ever tailgating there, myself, but I know people do. I've seen him at the Post-Gazette Pavilion in Pittsburgh the past couple of years, and the venue there is really good, with awesome tailgating. Post-Gazette Pavilion is closer for me and so that is usually where I go now, but if you don't mind the road trip, Riverbend is certainly a good choice as well.mary in buffalo wrote:i may have to try cincy then, since you recommend it.SummerByTheLakeside wrote:Won't happen. Re: 09 Tour Dates
At the risk of being banned for life from the site, I'd like to make a suggestion
(taking cover now!!!)How about scratching ALL of the "traditional" venues and trying out some new (or at least rarely visited spots) for the 2009 tour??
Many of us can only spare the time and $$$$ for a show once every year or so and we can't always travel too far to do it.
Having the shows in the same venues, in the same cities, every year means that some of us will just not be able to go - shaking up the norm with NEW venues in NEW places would be opening up the opportunities to a whole new slew of concert goers!
Look at the buzz when he did the first Paris jazz club show - why? Because it wasn't a venue he had played before & because it wasn't the typical big stadium show! Everyone was excited about it, and it sounds like it was really something to see. Now, maybe that excitement could be ramped up again with more new cities and new venues for the entire year?

There are lots of cities and plenty of venues all over North America that just never get a sniff of the action - wouldn't it be nice to see a change? Maybe they might just stumble onto the best venue ever, that just remains unknown to Parrotheads at this time?
Anyway, just a thought from someone who isn't ever going to get to Great Woods, etc. etc, and who would really like to see Jimmy & Co. back in the Pacific Northwest again. Maybe even back in Canada (Vancouver maybe?)
