I'm trying to look up poll locations and times for tomorrow's election.
Does anyone else find it ironic that the US Government has the slowest websites on the face of the internet?

They do, don't they? I remember searching this spring for some tax info...
I blame Al Gore.

Our local paper has polling locations available on-line...maybe that route would be quicker.

This is only because all the gambling and p*** is filling up all the tubes you use to get to the websites. Just ask Senator Ted Stevens (R-Alaska). He is an expert on how the Internet works.

That the government website is the slowest (and often the most difficult to use) isn't ironic... it's typical.
Government-run health care.... yeah, that's gonna be a hoot.

They have a map of counties to help show you how to locate your polling place

It's not meant to be a slam on the Republicans; I'd say it if it was a Democrat. I just love the technical explaination he gave and being in the computer field I sort of see where he was going. But it just sounded so bad I laugh everytime I think about. Plus he was Head of Commerce, Science & Transportation Committee, we makes me chuckle more. I'm not saying Dems haven't said stupid things (Al Gore and his Internet), this one hits closer home for me.
I'm just trying to lighten the mood...

Another irony concerning polling in the election:
After years and years of lamenting about low turnout rates, the one year when turnout is expected to be higher (%-wise) than it has in a long long time we have this huge potential problem across the nation with long lines, not having enough paper ballots, and in general being able to vote?

Doesn't surprise me in the least, they (meaning the politicians) always underestimate the American public
(which is not so different than taking US for granted that we'll accept everything they do... not naming names here but some Congressman are going to get a RUDE awakening this election day...)

I was wondering when the next person was going to write something. With this crowd, I'm suprised it took so long.

As with the Space Shuttle: Millions upon millions of parts, all of them made by the lowest bidder. Many of whom were also sleeping with someone in charge.
Good luck getting a place to vote.
