Fins sinking low

Post by Indiana Jolly Mon »

Makes me sad to see what this board has become. Having read for years and met a few members, this board seemed like what parrotheads preach they are, not only into JB music, but a laid back friendly life type. How many threads of 'cant wait to see/meet you' or the countless prayers and thoughts for strangers united only by love of JB music. sure there is bashing of Jimmy and his prices/song selection/businesses, but that has been civil and occasional.
The outright incivility of people here about the election is staggering. Even when someone brings it up, it only is followed by 'not me/they started it/it is true'.
There is no ablsolute in this, it is opinion. Civil discussions of differing opinion is a great way to learn, but that is not what this has become.

I am sure most will disregard this post, maybe blast away. But maybe, just maybe someone will put on a track they havent heard in a while, give a listen and chill the f*&k out.

i think we are all better than this. Let's put this behind us and get back to acting like it.

I hear you 'Mon

I think it will settle down once this election is decided,
but let's face it... these are difficult times. People are gonna get passionate as there is frustration out there.

..so glad there's one more live show on RM on Saturday night! :D :pirate: :wench:

I have found a lot of these discussions to be spirited and enjoyable. I am all for talking about poltics and what not. Part of why I come here is the different types of conversations you have.

I have to tell you, I'll be glad about Thursday or Friday when we can start talking about something else again.
I thank the Lord for the people I have found

This cycle happens every four years and only gets worse when concert season is over.

Wait until the tour starts back up; then people will only be complaining about how much tickets cost and the evil empire that is Ticketmaster.

Agreeing with LB (whodathunkit?)... things WILL settle down after the election is over. Even though I'm worried about the outcome of the election, I appreciate that people are taking an interest in our country's future.

That being said... I'm really bummed that we're out of concerts for the year.

Gonna be a long, cold, winter....

I was pretty much horrified when reading the political threads and vowed to stay out of it. I mentioned it, but pretty much got told by both sides that they are "enjoying" the dialog. Some people enjoy arguing.

I HATE conflict...so I was troubled by all the disagreements. But hey, if they are getting a kick out of it so be it....

That's the one thing I've always felt... There's always someone that feels that they have to "vent" somewhere and a message board is more anonymous than talking out loud.

That's why I don't take anything said here personally...Sometimes I get the urge to vent, then bottle it up, however (or hit "cancel" instead of "submit"....)

Message board posting is just like "email" you cannot take it back once you've sent it .......

While I admit I love discussing politics and hearing a wide array of views and ideas, I do find the personal attacks and the broad sweeping attacks on groups a bit tiresome. The whole bit with conservatives being fascist and the liberals being socialist or communist doesn't help to move the discussion along.
