Never heard of that.
In a neighborhood like mine with a fair amount of trees, we'd spend more time sorting out which leaves belonged to each neighbor than we do raking them.
Front yard: A big pin oak tree that drops leaves and little acorn things. A leaf blower (used at an appropriate time of day works wonders). There are some neighbors trees that drop a lot of leaves but it's not that much in the grand scheme of things.
Back yard: A cherry tree and (6-9) of Bradford Pears (most in my neighbors yard. Leaf blower works well (just have to make sure I don't s*** up dog poop).
I try to compost as many leaves as I can in 3 big containers in the back yard but alot still get put out front for pickup.
My kids are still into jumping into leaves so I love piling them all up and watching them romp. Ah, to be 7 yrs old again...
We do have one cottonwood, but the leaves aren't too bad from it. The thing I hate are all the damn olives falling off of the Russian olive trees. They end up getting tracked into the house, and making a big ol' mess.
We have a leaf rake/catcher that we hook up to our riding lawn mower and we just drive all over the yard and it picks up the leaves, then we dump them in sacks or burn them. Raking by hand is so.....*3	s@.
Do not resent growing old. Many are denied the privilege.

I got bored yesterday and went and blew my neighbor's front yard that was covered in leaves. Then I put down winterizer....
what is winterizer?
I think he's talking about fertilizer for the lawn.
Or maybe a giant electric blanket so your lawn stays green instead of white all winter?
ohhhh---I like the electric blanket idea
If I put the electric blanket down, only the clover would make it through the winter....sad how I work on my lawn all spring and summer at the best it looks is at the end of September.....

The Seattle Municipal Code says that homeowners are responsible for the leaves that fall into their yards. It's a misdemeanor to blow them into the street. (SMC 15.46.030 Deposits in street or gutter. “It is unlawful to wash or sweep or otherwise deposit any matter in any street or gutter.”)
If you don’t take care of them in your yard, they get into the streets and become litter. Worse than that, they get into the storm drains and can cause floods. Last winter a woman in Seattle died when the storm drains in her neighborhood clogged up and overflowed. Her house happened to be the lowest spot in the neighborhood and she was trapped in her in the basement and drowned. (And now the city is being sued . . . .)
I know the voices in my head aren't real, but sometimes they have really good ideas....

We have a ton of trees and the leaves are a real b****. We don't have much room in our yard to put the leaf piles. Across the street is town property. Much to Mrs. Golfers dismay I haul the leaves across the street and dump them in the town's woods. Just a matter of time until I get a trespassing/illegal dumping ticket.
So, I'm outside raking leaves yesterday and I've got a huge pile in the front yard. The kids come out and jump around in them; no problem, it's really very funny. Then, the oldest starts playing with his lego Mars Rover in the leaf pile. I didn't see this until I told them I needed to start sucking up the leaves into the leaf vacuum. It seems the lego toy came apart in the leaf pile. Looking for little lego pieces in a large pile of leaves is a real pain in the ass let me tell you. Many tears ensued (by him, not me) but I was able to find enough pieces that he thinks all them are found. (Of course, his brother is jumping all around having a blast and not really helping matters). I think he is missing one or two pieces but we'll just order those on line or go to the Lego store near us and buy them. I admire his creativity of wanting to play with the toy in the leaves but maybe we will try a different toy next time.
I just wanna know how the heck do leaves get stuck UNDER my windshield wipers? These leaves up here are tough too - it takes FOREVER for them to blow off your car when you drive down the road.
Well...(said in my best Bubba voice) I've been on sabbatical.
How Funny!! I'm leaving work early today to go rake more leaves before the darn snow starts flying off of Lake Ontario!! BIG very old Oak tree and a Beech tree... Lots of leaves. I'm tempted to rake them thru the yard and open the gate so they can be free in the front yard and become someone elses problem.... But I'll be good and rake them all myself...
Dont try to explain it, just bow your head
