Firefighters say they saw smoke coming out of an upstairs window at #1 French Market Place when they arrived on the scene at 8:00 a.m. Tuesday morning.
The building houses the Jimmy Buffet Margaritaville retail store. New Orleans Fire Department investigators say the fire was caused by a refrigerator with an electrical malfunction.
Six units and 24 firefighters responded to the fire. The first firefighters were on the scene in just two minutes, and tell us the fire was extinguished in under an hour and a half.
