Never, I'd rather read a book then listen to it.

I'm easily distracted too, I have a short attention span. If I was listening to it I know I'd miss something, that's why I'd rather read. But I notice as I've gotten older I've been reading less. I used to read a couple of books a month, I don't think I've read 5 all year.

I listen to audiobooks on my way from Wisconsin to see my family in St. Louis - it is amazing how much faster the long drive goes.
Otherwise, give me a regular print version of a book to read anytime.

if i try to read a book i just find myself reading the same page over and over again...its sad....im blaming it on boring text books...when i was younger i used to read books for fun all the time....
i dont listen to books on tape because i dont have time...but i know i can pay attention to lewis black on tape...so maybe i could pay attention to a book

I seem to go in spirts....
Sometimes I read all I can get my hands on, and sometimes, I want nothing to do with it.

Do I listen...to the voices in my head? Most of the time, no (unless they say "Have another beer").
No, I don't do books on tape/cd/or any other media than paper. I can't read books online either, I get to distrac....hey look, a butterfly!!

I tried these years ago while commuting to work on the bus, invariably I would fall asleep. I wore out more batteries rewinding/fastfowarding trying to find where I left off than it was worth. At least with a book (if I don't drop it) I'll have my finger in the page.

Me too....
Especially if they're books out of a series? I've already assigned voices and accents to the characters...and hearing one voice read them all was just too much for me....That did it for me and I never got any more...

Reading through this thread I couldn't help but think of George Costanza getting that book on tape and it was his voice narrating it so he couldn't listen to it because you can't stand to hear your own voice

K... so, I tried to listen to my first audiobook.........................HORRIBLE!!
I downloaded The Vampire Lestat, and the narrator voice drives me crazy! I haven't gotten through the whole thing yet and don't know if I want to. He has a lisp, and sounds, well, let's just say weird!
I have listened to some of the old time radio shows though. They are pretty cool. Maybe cuz they are only about 1/2 hour- 1 hour???? Idunno.

My mother is a big audio book person, listens while she is on the treadmilly. I am not a big fan, just can't get into them.

I've never bought any.
Like a few others here, I tend to pay more attention if I'm actually reading the book.

I'm not a good listener and don't do the KINDLE thing, but I have listened to all of the Potter books as I read along. It seems to mean so much more when you hear the pronunciations and accents for certian books.
Love the books like Beach Music and Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil when you can hear the southern accents also.
I especially enjoyed J. D. Souther and his smooth reading of A Salty Piece of Land.
I always enjoy listening to books on long driving trips...
Otherwise, give me something in my hand to fall asleep to at night.
