You hit the nail on the headph4ever wrote:And were you not being a hypocrite by pointing out that others were being hypocritical and then posting the picture of the commander in chief? IMHO it just looked like you were waiting for someone to post something that you could jump their shiat on.LIPH wrote:For the most part, I tried to stay out of a lot of the political threads, even to the point of not posting at all for about 3 weeks. Now, I'll probably get at the very least an extended timeout but at this point I really don't give a f**k.
During the presidential campaign, if anyone said anything about Obama that showed less than ass-kissing adoration or didn't seem like the poster was trying to earn a pair of presidential kneepads by dropping down and humming Hail To The Chief, somebody would get their panties in a wad and start whining like a little b**** about how offensive it was. Not one of those assholes ever said anything about people calling George Bush "shrub". Not one of those assholes ever said anything about the pictures of George Bush looking like Alfred E. Neumann. Not one of those assholes ever said anything when someone used a picture of George Bush with the caption "American Idiot" as an avatar for at least 2 weeks. Not one of those assholes said anything about the Bush, McCain or Palin bashing.
Yet, as soon as the chosen one from Illinois won the election, all we heard was calls for "support", "unity" and "an end to the diviseness." I was willing to believe the people making these calls were sincere. I don't think it's any secret that I wasn't an Obama supporter, but I wasn't a McCain supporter either. I haven't voted for either of the major party candidates for President in the last 3 elections. But when some guy starting bashing Obama in the "Congratulations" thread that was started right after the election I ripped into him, to the point that I was warned by a moderator, both publicly on the board and in a PM, to stop. Then the first chance someone gets to post something putting Palin in a bad light, there it is. And I'm sorry, but I don't buy the bull$hit about posting it no matter who was in the video. If it was some obscure politician or a non-celebrity nobody would give a s*** because the left wing assholes wouldn't have a chance to bash Palin. What a pack of f**** hypocrites.

Healthy for who? I don't feel healthier for any of them.FunkHouse9 wrote: I think even heated debate can be healthy, so I was against pushing us into our own corners. I did not think voting no meant we were thus restricted to the one thread most of the debate was happening in.
Aside from that... I truly believe your idea for separate threads would not have kept the 'other side' out of either.

Obama announced his candidacy almost 2 years ago. If all I wanted to do post something negative about him don't you think I had more than enough chances to do it before yesterday? Your opinion of humor is way different than others. Did you eve watch the video and see the guy mugging for the camera. It was funny - like I said it wouldn't matter if it were Palin or the mayor of Paris Texas giving the interview - the guy in the background was funny to many of us. Granted - not you but to some of us it was funny. You just choose to not accept our opinions so why should yours be accepted.

I must have missed your thread about Obama reaching across the aisle to choose Rahm Emanuel as his chief of staff. He is exactly the guy I think of when the word "bipartisan" is used.FunkHouse9 wrote:I don't think that pointing out someone doing stupid things in front of the cameras is a good example of "lack of unity."
I missed the thread about the "change" that the transition team will bring.
Where will I find your thread about Tom Daschle?ABC News' Senior White House Correspondent Jake Tapper wrote:I think, if my math is correct, 16 out of 19 of these folks worked in some capacity for the administration of President Clinton, which will no doubt cause some to question just how much "change" can really come of these appointments.
It would be difficult to find a more partisan group than Obama's transition team and cabinet nominees....in November 2007, candidate Obama said of lobbyists: “I don’t take a dime of their money, and when I am president, they won’t find a job in my White House.”
But since leaving the U.S. Senate following an election loss in 2004, Daschle has been a highly paid adviser to healthcare clients at the law and lobbying firm Alston & Bird.
Although Daschle is not a registered lobbyist, he “provides strategic advice to the firm’s clients about how to influence government policy or actions,”
Obama raised record amounts of money during the campaign. Those dollars came with strings attached. We're about to see who pulls those strings.
"Someone doing stupid things in front of the cameras" might be humorous to some, but an elected officeholder going back on their word to the people that elected them is harmful to all of us.

My post that you quoted is pointing out that I don't see the relation between a thread a ridiculous video and bi-partisanship have to do with each other. I also honestly don't see what your post has to do with mine.Elrod wrote:I must have missed your thread about Obama reaching across the aisle to choose Rahm Emanuel as his chief of staff.
