Way yo go....Thanks

I'm actual really curious about his cabinet choices. That's a very important decision to make, and the wrong ones could screw things up big time for the next four years. What he needs to remember is that it is an old house, so he can't go with anything too modern or shiny. Something classic and traditional, like oak or maple. And no handles. I like the ones that have the little indentures on the bottom of the door. You know the ones that you just kind of stick your fingers in and pop the door? Those are especially fun with people who aren't familiar with your kitchen, cause it takes 'em a few seconds just to figure out how to open the doors, and then inevitably they try opening the same side that the hinge is on. Makes me laugh every time.

I've been on here for years and have seen tempers flare every election. It's nothing new.
Nevertheless I thought the video was funny.

Yeah, but if they lock the cabinets, they'll never learn that Drano tastes like sh*t.

Sad thing is, people don't even have to click on the thread to get annoyed. A month ago, if you clicked "Latest Posts", you were bombarded with all the negative threads, and the vibe this forum used to have was lost. We've had it back the past week or so, I'd hate to see us go back to all the negativity. This thread is most "un-Buffetty"

Maybe it's the delivery. Maybe I should emphasize "Drano" instead of "sh*t".

I could care less about Palin...I do care about BN, and what these type of threads do to it.
Any thread, about any politician, is going to be divisive, and cause hard feelings for some. There will be some that will take this thread as badmouthing the Republicans ( whether it was meant that way or not), and will feel if it's Ok to Bash Palin, then they can start threads about Obama.
We are bombarded with this stuff from all angles everyday. Wouldn't it be nice to have a place where you could get away from all of it? BN used to be my "stress free zone" where I could unwind from all the daily BS...then came election season and I almost gave up on BN because it lost it's feel good vibe. I'd just hate to see us go back to that, and feel this thread could/might start us back down that road.

Take it from someone who has been around for a long time. The election and all that came with it is not the only time there have been "controversial" discussions on this board. I've seen discussions on such simple things as the Tour de France turn ugly. With over 21,000 members you are simply not going to have a kumbya feeling in every thread. You, however, have the power to control your BN experience by simply not clicking on every thread. Many pick and choose the threads they enter. Several years ago I felt similar to you and voiced my objections to things posted that offended me when I was stopped dead in my tracks by someone telling me "It's a discussion board - get over it. You cannot control the board, it's not yours to control." Yes I was hurt when that person told me that however it was for my own good and I am thankful she said that to me.

For "happy, shiny phin power" threads, you'll find loads of 'em in the "PH Social" section.
perhaps, the "Puppies!!!" thread would make you happier.... I know it does for me!!

What about the Terry Schiavo thread?
Now that was some er...
lively discourse, fer sure.
Personally, it's the pure diversity of subject material in here that keeps me around.
I am disappointed that there is such calls for censorship.
If the subject of the thread looks unappealing ... then just find another.
The people who have stuck around here know how this place ebbs and flows
..and they roll with it... or they just plain roll onward

Well I'm sorry if my posting of something that's all over the news websites anyway brings BN down. I sure didn't see many republicans standing up for Obama and saying what a good person he is despite the bad press. I did see that for McCain. I know because I posted stuff like that.
I trust that you will all practice what you preach and the next time Obama or Biden or Hillary gets caught shooting their friend in the face with a shotgun, making pro-segregationist comments at a Dixiecrat's birthday party, soliciting gay sex in an airport bathroom, texting sexually related comments to underage male congressional paiges, leading a nation into an unjust war, or pardoning a turkey with a background of turkeys being slaughtered, I expect you and all of the others crying foul to show the same restraint you all are accusing me of lacking.

I do not believe, or have ever posted that BN is mine to control. All I can control is what I post and what I read, and everyone else has to do the same. All I am saying, and have asked, is for people to think about what they post, whether it will make BN a better place, or if it will be offensive to some. I have the same arrangement at my house, as Marilyn and I do not agree politically. So, in the name of harmony, we agree to disagree and don't discuss certain topics. We even joke that we HAVE to vote, to cancel each other's vote out. We make it work because we want it to. BN is no different in that respect.
Bottomline...BN is what we ALL make it. I just don't understand the logic in posting something that some may find funny, but just as many may find offensive. If I ever do post something that you find offensive, please PM me. I assure you it would never be intentional.
One last thing...there are a lot of people who post regularly here that feel the same way I do, including Mods...I have the PMs to prove it. This subject has been debated to death behind the scenes...and it was hoped that after the election things would get back to normal. They were...til this thread showed up. C'mon, can't we just let it go....and get along?

That's one argument that never sat well with me.. just because it IS "Off-Topic" doesn't mean the topic is liked/enjoyed by everyone. To click or not to click IS an option, but it's human nature to open some of them. And those who object to something have the same 'right's as those who don't mind them. And from my voluntary moderator point of view, it's sometimes painful to read them. Some things that are said are very hurtful, but we generally let them run their course, so as to not have the '1st Amendment' flag raised..
And no, you can't control what people post. Some enjoy discussing anything and everything 'political'. Why, is beyond me. But that's just me.
No matter what anyone says, whenever feathers get ruffled in an "Off Topic" thread, the mood and negativity and jabs at each other definitely spill over into the Social, JB Discussion, or whatever other section of the board someone posts in.

Chris I got friends who do the same thing (In fact their the friends I'm going to for Thanksgiving.) I ask them why they even bother because they split on EVERYTHING, but every year they go.
