I need a new computer!
Grab me a Wii if you get a chance!
One of my employees is going at buttcrack of dawn to Walmart to get a new TV. I'll have him grab the wii for you.
Buttcrack of dawn is way too late. For items like the TVs ya gotta go right after your Thanksgiving feast.

Guess it's me FOUR!

Nothing against Wal-Mart or their toy department... [smilie=battingeyes.gif]

Usually, I don't go out and go shopping on THAT particular day.

Plus, I'd prolly NOT get up before noon anyways... and all the good stuff would be gone!!

Hubby and I are hard-core Black Friday shoppers. In fact, this year, my sister is hitting Walmart for us early (she gets employee discount via her hubby) for some items we want (mostly toys, not TVs) while we go to Old Navy for $12 jeans! Then it's off to Toys R Us for the rest of the goodies.

Then breakfast, one more store (usually Target) then home. :D :D :D

Sometimes I get up (or don't go to bed) and go shopping, sometimes I don't. Sometimes I sit in my jammies and shop online......

But either way, I love that day!!!!

Actual accidents tend to be low. Near misses are where it's all at.

I'd rather chew tin foil :o
Besides I don't buy gifts since it's just my mom and I anyway so I gratefully stay out of that mess.

The one and only time I went shopping on Black Friday, we took the three kids to a furniture store to look around and possibly buy some things for the living room & kitchen.
The store was a madhouse, the kids (all three under 4 years old), were cranky, crying, having tantrums... I'd run out of snacks, not to mention patience. In effect, it was a nightmare! Finally, after several hours, we were sitting down figuring out financing on a $500 purchase of some hand painted bar stools.
The kids were making a scene at the candy counter and the baby was screaming. Suddenly, I noticed a business woman heading our direction. I was absolutely sure she was going to ask us to leave the store, but instead, she sat down next to us and said, "We've been watching your family this afternoon and have come to a decision that you will be our 'Customer of the Year'. Every year we select one customer, and, no matter what the amount of their purchase, we give it to them for free." ---- Our first thought was, What's the catch? -- Our second thought was, Why the heck hadn't we decided on that new sofa and that Dining Room Set?!!!!

And so, here's my advice on Black Friday... go shopping with three out of control, cranky children under the age of 4 and management will do ANYTHING to get you out of there !!!

I worked in retail one Christmas after college.

The next year (and many years after that) I had all of my shopping done before Thanksgiving and mailed my cards the day after.

For the next six years I stayed out of malls between Thanksgiving and New Years. The only cash registers that I went near were in liquor stores and gas stations.

bfads is my favorite. :D

This year my sister is going, too, so we'll give her our Wal-Mart list (none of the uberbigticket items), while we do Toys R Us and Old Navy ($12 jeans!!!).

Back in da day I use to enjoy Black Friday from the safety of my couch and the 11 olcock news. ;)

Having spent the past four years in retail managment...Well I am right in the middle of it. I don' t look as it as a bad thing. Any day where you make LOTS of money is a good day after all.

It is kind of odd though that it has gotten so bad that the company I work for put out a three page news letter filled with information and tips of how to keep ourselves safe as workers. This is not a typcial on the job safety packet.. this deals specificlly with Black Friday and the uptight morons it brings out. Good stuff. HAHA.

I worked retail for a number of years, in my younger and more foolish days. Only a suicidal individual or a fool will stand right inside the doors the moment they open on Black Friday. Calling it a "stampede" is an understatement; the World Wrestling Federation never saw anything like the scrum and clusterf-k at the bargain aisle. It's like root canal without the drugs.

I similarly *still* stay out of malls - and preferably clear of the access roads next to the malls - between Thanksgiving and New Years if at all possible. I have, on occasion, had to make exceptions...and I usually regret them.

My friends know enough not to get me anything - I got no room in this house anyway for more stuff. :) So nobody's disappointed if I don't return the favor.

And having been raised Jewish, I *really* don't miss endless repetitions of holiday music. :) If one of them gets stuck in my head by mistake, I banish it with something like the Blue Danube Waltz.
