Why? It's a *Christmas* song list. It's not a seasonal song list. Maybe they should have a list for all the Chanukah songs. We'd have both Sandler songs, The Dreidel Song, Oh Chanukah! Oh Chanukah!, Sevivon and my personal favorite, Maoz Tzur.
It's a pet peave of mine - call it what it is - no need to be politcally correct if it is not accurate.
On my heavy metal Christmas my true love gave to me,
12 silver crosses
11 black mascaras
10 pairs of platforms
9 tattered t-shirts
8 pentagrams
7 leather jackets
6 cans of hairspray
5 skull earrings
4 quarts of Jack
3 studded belts
2 pairs of spandex pants
and a tattoo of Ozzy!

I always hear it at Christmas time with other Christmas songs so that's why I felt it should be on the list.
Well...(said in my best Bubba voice) I've been on sabbatical.

Jimmy does a nice version of it. I think his version is one of the best.
Song has special meaning for anyone who has been away or stationed somewhere during the Holidays.

Yeah, and it bothers me. Not a lot, just a little. The man is keeping my people down... oh well....

I had that on a mix tape in the 80's and played it at Christmas. My mother's jaw hit the floor. She took the tape out and put on a Kate Smith Christmas....quite a difference.

I always wondered at, and at the same time, deplored "Please, Daddy, Don't Get Drunk This Christmas". Talk about capitalizing on someone's misery. . . .

I collect Christmas Music traditional and not so traditional some really off the wall. I have a copy of a CD called "Yule Be Miserable" the cover is a department store Santa Claus with a fifth of whiskey passed out on a fire escape. It contains "some of the bluest Christmas songs ever written". It's all Christmas Carols done by Blues Artists....different.

My favorite rock and roll Christmas song is either
"Happy Xmas (War is Over)" by John Lennon
or "Christmas (Please Come Home) by Darlene Love
Favorite Standard is....
"I'll Be Home For Christmas" by Frank Sinatra
I can't wait to see Darlene Love on Letterman singing that....That's my favorite of the year!
Haven't gone and looked at the list yet....
Mods, you can lock this thread. We have the definitive answer. Do yourself a favor and search Darlene Love & Letterman on YouTube. I'll get you started with one of my favs, the 2005 version.
Love also performs the song every year, without fail, on the final new episode of the Late Show with David Letterman before Christmas. The song is always performed with Paul Shaffer and the CBS Orchestra, with the band being augmented by additional strings and other instruments, as well as a full choir. Love first performed the song on Late Night with David Letterman in 1986. Letterman has stated that the annual performance is his favorite part of Christmas. Due to the 2007 Writers Guild of America strike, Love was unable to perform on the Letterman show in 2007
