Big 12 South.....who deserves it!!??
For you college football fanatics out there.....assuming Oklahoma AND Texas Tech win this weekend....the Big 12 South division will be in a 3 way tie for the division championship. The team that represents the Big 12 South in the Big 12 Championship game will be the one that is ratest highest in the BCS standings.
Who derserves that spot in the title game?
I've always been an anti Texas fan, indifferent to Texas Tech, and supportive of Oklahoma. But, I believe Texas deserves the nod....heres why.
Throw Texas Tech out.....if you get spanked by 40-some points you're out of the conversation......My lean to Texas is 2 fold.....straight up beat Okie on Neutral Field.....Texas HAD Tech beat if kid hangs onto interception on 2nd to last play of the game AT Texas Tech.....therefore, Texas was 7 seconds/gimme dropped INT from being unbeaten. I'm sorry but Okie's style points against Tech AND any style points they can get against Okie State won't be enough to overcome straight up loss....even if Okie IS playing better right now than Texas which I don't know how that can be proven!

Sorry Moonie.....admitted prejudice takes away your vote without good reasoning......Moonie wrote:hmm..well, OKLAHOMA, for sure...I'm still very much an Okie at heart, and admittedly prejudice towards OK University...

might as well get over that one...Big 8 is dead and gone.johnson2113 wrote:Well, I hate all three of them, but my allegiance is still to the Big 8.![]()
But I have to go with OU.
But as long as USC doesn't end up in the National Championship I don't care who wins.
I'm already dreading what's going to happen to my Wildcats so I'm no too worried about the south.
Booo you, Dr. Corona

The brutal violation of Texas Tech knocks them out imo.
So between Texas and OU common sense says head to head should be the deciding factor.
But of course there is no common sence in the BSC.
Not to worry though. When the Noles beat the Gators tomorrow and then the Gators wax Alabama then maybe Texas and Oklahoma will meet in the NC game.

the Sooners couldn't just leave the field before the game was over...what'd you want them to do?

Of course it's a long shot for the Noles to beat the Florida Tebows but hey ya never know..
Oh, and I support brutal violations in sports. I've always felt it's an offense's job to score and a defense's job to stop them.

The BSC is less than useless for determining anything other than predjudice and has no reality to do with the performances of the team. It is simply a revised "Good Ole Boy" system...if you are well liked or popular, your in. If your not well liked or popular, no matter what you do, you will never get a chance.
Dump the BCS and their prejudice!

I fear that the Longhorns will get screwed on this one despite beating OU head to head by two scores.
However in recent years Oklahoma has had a tendancy to choke in conference and national championship games so if indeed OU does make it to the conference championship game Longhorn fans better pull for the OU upset. You still might have a shot at playing for it all against either Florida or Alabama.
On the bright side another BCS screw-up is probably what we need.

NORMAN — Oklahoma is Kansas City-bound. The Sooners survived Texas’ furious political campaign to finish ahead of the Longhorns in the BCS rankings and advance to the Big 12 Championship.
Because OU, Texas and Texas Tech all finished in a three-way tie atop Big 12 South, the tiebreaker was decided by the team ranked highest in the BCS. OU will play Big 12 North champ Missouri on Saturday night in Kansas City.
Getting there wasn’t easy.
Even though OU finished the regular-season routing Tech and beating Oklahoma State by 20 points in Stillwater, Texas coach Mack Brown lobbied all week that the Longhorns should be voted ahead of OU because of their head-to-head result.
Texas defeated OU 45-35 on Oct. 11.
But in the end, it wasn’t enough, as OU jumped to No. 2 in the BCS. That leap was powered by the Sooners' advantage in the computer portion of the rankings. OU climbed from No. 3 to No. 1 in the computer rankings this week.
If the Sooners defeat Missouri, they’ll likely play the winner of Alabama-Florida in the BCS national championship.
