Georgia Run-Off Election

Post by carolinagirl »

Just when you think it's safe to go back to Off Topic, there's another election!!! :o :o :o

Saxby Chambliss vs. Jim Martin

How many Georgia people have already voted? If not, remember to vote tomorrow! How can you forget???

Yesterday (Sunday) afternoon, I got a phone call from former President Clinton! That one went to answering machine, so I could play it for son's astonishment.

Also, Michelle Obama called me yesterday. Today, Michael Reagan called and told me who to vote for because, "My father, Ronald Reagan, would vote for him." Just now, it was NARAL.

If you're in Georgia, who have you heard from?

didn't give them time to identify themselves.

I don't even go to the phone to click it off. Just let it go to screening mode.

Georgians and those of you who supported Chambliss can stand by this man?

From Wikipedia and AP:

Chambliss was criticized for remarks he made during a November 19, 2001 meeting with first responders in Valdosta, Georgia, where he said that homeland security would be improved by turning the sheriff loose to "arrest every Muslim that crosses the state line." Chambliss apologized for the remarks.

In 2006, Chambliss was among several congressional Republicans and Democrats who returned campaign donations from Jack Abramoff.

Chambliss received criticism from Democrats and Republicans for this ad, pointing out that he, who hadn't served in the Vietnam War due to receiving military deferments, had attacked a Vietnam War veteran, Max Cleland, who lost three limbs during his service ...for not being tough enough on issues of war and homeland security. Republican Senator John McCain of Arizona said of one ad, "It's worse than disgraceful, it's reprehensible;" Senator Chuck Hagel of Nebraska said the ads were "beyond offensive to me."

Guess you guys would vote for the devil, too...if he wore his red suit for the Republicans ?  :-?

If those nudniks in Minnesota can stand by that big fat idiot Al Frankkenstein, YES, I can stand by this man.

He APOLOGIZED? :o
DAMN, why the hell would he do that? I suppose I COULD forgive him, but he better not apologize ever again for those remarks.

I really was most disgusted by the Max Cleland episode.

Like I said before, the sheer desperation to cling to some form of power would have the 'Pubs selling their souls just to hang onto another seat at this point.

It's shocking, but not worth conceding our "check & balance" system over.

To those that are obviously anti Chambliss I have this to say. The election is over. Bringing up the the less positive stories about the winner's past only makes what some said about "the other side" to be the truth. Just think about all the negativity that has been complained about and don't feed into it, please.

To those that are glad for the Chambliss win, congratulations and now some of you don't have to worry about a filibuster proof congress - you should be happy.

I agree. If we disagree, then let's discuss the issues we disagree on, not call names and throw dirt.
