Anyone have a good NYC group rate on hotels?
My daughter's school Junior class (11th grade) are planning a group field trip/college visit to NYC. I think they are aiming for this spring, and I think there are about 25 students, plus a few other teachers and parent chaperones.
Anyone have any inside scoop or strings on good group accommodation rates in NY?
They will be most likely visiting Julliard and NYU's Tisch school and some others also.

I would suggest contacting a travel agency that has a group department and work out what your requirements are and see what they can come up with for you.
If you want to stay at the Waldorf or the Marriott Marquis or the New York Palace or similar be prepared to pay for it. If you will accept things like Holiday Inns or Comfort Inns or even the Roosevelt or any number of hotels that aren't part of a major chain, you should be able to get a decent rate. I would avoid the Milford Plaza because it is really run down and ratty.

The company I use to work for had a good rate at the Helmsley Middletowne. It is around the corner from the Waldorf Astoria on 48th. Nice hotel. Good location for Grand Central, Park Avenue, Rockefeller Center. It might be worth giving them a call and see what type of group rate they can do.

Actually, if they're visiting NYU, NYU rents out dorm rooms for next to nothing. All you have to take with you is your own bedsheets.buffettbride wrote:My daughter's school Junior class (11th grade) are planning a group field trip/college visit to NYC. We've done that several times and it's always worked out really well for us.

Along a similar thought ... my daughter, her girl scout troop plus several moms are going to NYC the 3rd or 4th weekend in January. They want to check out a "Broadway Show" (I haven't heard any preferences yet).
Any tips on the best way to get Broadway tickets .... obviously just going to TicketMaster.com is an option, but perhaps there are better ways (?).

A few years ago my oldest keet's GS Troop went to NYC. About 20 including chaparones. They stayed at Jazz On The Park and had a great time meeting other folks from all over the world, and the price was right.
