This time of year most of us take time to reachout to those that need help. This is a program that I have helped in the past and will again in the future. They love to receive gift cards to send to the families of our brave men and women in uniform. If you can help, please do so. I have seen first hand how this organization works. Like the military itself, they move swiftly, directly and completely.

MISSION STATEMENT:
Operation Homefront provides emergency support and morale to the troops, to the families they leave behind, and to wounded warriors when they return home.

HISTORY OF OPERATION HOMEFRONT:
Operation Homefront was founded in San Diego after the first waves of deployed service members to Afghanistan. Military wives partnered with local San Diego media personality Roger Hedgecock and veterans to create Operation Homefront to provide an outlet for citizens to show their support for the troops in ways that were most needed. The troops asked that the community care for the families they had to leave behind. By the end of its first year, Operation Homefront was serving 10 percent of the military population in Southern California with a dedicated team of staff and volunteers.

Another partner, Amy Palmer had launched a similar nonprofit organization on the East Coast, called the Armed Forces Foundation, with a similar mission and success rate in four major military communities. Amy merged her organization and three chapters into Operation Homefront and became executive vice president of Operations, and assumed responsibility for all charitable activities nationally and with local chapters. Soon civilians located in other military communities across the nation contacted us to launch Operation Homefront chapters across the United States which launched a national organization. Roger Hedgecock created Homefront San Diego to continue supporting military families in the San Diego area only.

In 2005, Operation Homefront became a National nonprofit 501(c)3 organization, with headquarters currently located in San Antonio Texas. Today Operation Homefront boasts 30 chapters serving 37 states nationwide. Since its inception, Operation Homefront has provided critical assistance to more than 40,000 military families in need. In 2007, Operation Homefront San Diego became Operation Homefront Southern California and serves military families from San Diego to Fresno California.

HOW WE HELP:
Operation Homefront provides aid to families struggling not only with emergencies, but also with the problems of everyday military life. With multiple deployments, the stress of separation and single parenting, families need the extra assistance when times get tough or a crisis hits. Operation Homefront strives to be a second family for military families during these times and offers a multitude of programs to strengthen health and well being.

Our Programs Include:

Vehicle Repair-Assistance when the only vehicle breaks down
Vehicle Donation Program-Allows service providers to receive free vehicles when they have no means of transportion
Computer Program-Allows children and spouses to stay in touch with their loved ones
Financial Assistance Program-Families receive assistance with monthly bills when crises such as illness, homelessness and family death occur
Furniture Program-Families are provided donated household and baby furniture
Moving-Volunteers provide physical labor for families when a service member is deployed
Social Outreach & Morale-Spouse seminar are offered to spouses of deployed family members. Adopt-a-Family Holiday Program, Thanksgiving/Holiday baskets, Back-to-School supplies, Easter baskets
Education-Families who apply to Operation Homefront are offered free financial planning classes and guidance on setting monthly budgets, credit, and debt relief

TEAM OPERATION HOMEFRONT:
The foundation of Operation Homefront lies with the dedicated volunteers that provide the needed assistance to our programs and assistance to military families. Operation Homefront has a core team of volunteers and a larger base of community volunteers to help throughout the year with many of our holiday programs. Our volunteers are our biggest asset and are truly the heart of Operation Homefront and its operations.
