As a public elementary school music teacher, I hope the witch catches herself on fire with her menora! At our CHRISTMAS concert last week, we not only had Santa Claus himself, but we also had a real baby Jesus, Mary, Joseph, 3 wisemen, an angel, and a shepard. It was a real live nativity while the children sang "We Three Kings", "It Came Upon the Midnight Clear", and "Children, Go Where I Send Thee". When we are no longer allowed to do that, I will quit teaching public school and go into church music.

Y'know...in some places, threatening a person with violence because of their religion might be considered a hate crime. Though I can't figure out whether you're hatin' on Wiccans or Jews here. Assuming of course you can tell the difference.

And at least witches and Jews aren't knocking on your door and leaving flyers under the wiper blades on your car trying to convert you to *their* religion.

I grew up Jewish. I didn't understand all the Christmas religious stuff they did in school, and when I *did* start to understand it, I felt very resentful and left out. My religion did *not* get equal time.

I *was* thinking of just saying, "Oh, if it's on Fox, it's probably made up anyway." But I find intolerance on the scale you're expressing here to be...intolerable. If you want to live in a country where there's a state religion, try Iran. Otherwise, try to show a little "peace and goodwill" toward your fellow humans of *whatever* denomination. It's "love thy neighbor as thyself," in case you've forgotten your Scriptures.

Sheesh.

First off, it's menorah with an h. Second off, that's pretty darn offensive. My Mom's Jewish, my Dad is agnostic and I was raised Jewish but we always had a Christmas tree. I consider myself a practicing Jew. I get I'm living in a country where I'm the minority. I get that Christmas is a great holiday with lights and trees and songs and family and presents. Some of people don't view this as a religious holiday where as some people are more observant and do. But it is a religious holiday. Please don't try to deny that. The woman was complaining about a religious holiday in a public school. Did she overact? Personally, I think so. I would like to think that everyone here is not annoyed that she has an opinion but that she has exercise our (overused) legal system to get the point across. IMO, shielding her child from this is not solution because wherever she goes in the US, there will Christmas stuff.
