Well a lot of people in New Orleans really start grumbling when Buffett plays JF. Which he's done quite a bit the past few years. So a break would be good.
Although I'm curious as to how, what, Dave Matthews - yuck.

It is always a fun time....I had friends get engaged in 1995 at Jazzfest. They go back every year to mark the occasion.

Rosie Ledet is freakin' awsome! She is coming back to us in SW Florida for the Gumbo Fest in North Ft. Myers. I saw her for the first time last year. Great Zydacho music.

DMB plays every other year? That's news to me. The last time he played that I am aware of was 2006. When was it last before then? That's not quite every other year now is it?

You are right. It hasn't been every other year. I was wrong. DMB played in 1996, 1998, 2001, 2005 and 2006. I thought they we there in 2007. However, they have actually been at Jazz fest a lot more than I thought. They also played in 1994 and 1995 at a venue called the State Palace Theater in New Orleans. The appearances were billed as part of the New Orleans Jazz and Music festival. It looks like a pretty good track record for a band that formed in 1989 and had their first major label release in 1994. I guess someone likes them because they keep getting invited back.

Good grief I had no idea DMB was there that much either. Way more than I thought. Eh, you go to JF and after - it's almost like retrograde motion - yeah I saw so and so a couple of years ago - that turns into FIVE years ago...but because it's such a long festival it...just turns into a haze I guess.

Looking forward to the 1st weekend. Joe Cocker, Drive-By Truckers, and Del McCoury Band.
Also if anyone wants to check out some smaller acts, see Lost Bayou Ramblers (great cajun music) and Sharde Thomas & the Rising Star Fife & Drum Band. Sharde Thomas is the granddaughter of Otha Turner (legendary Hill country music from Clarksdale, MS.) Both are great acts...Also curious who is gonna be TBA on the second weekend
