Glad to see them go. I have all boys so they aren't an issue in my house but my niece got one as a gift when she was 8-9 and it came with fishnet stockings!? Little much for that age imho. :wench:

Barbie was too society-ish for my daughter. She had a few, her and her brother removed their legs, arms, and heads, at different times and found it hilarious.

Thankfully, she was more into Care Bears and stuffed animals, strawberry shortcake, etc.

The BRATZ seem to resemble, tho, more of what some of the girls try to imitate.

I've seen 6th and 7th grade girls try the Britney Spears look-a-like thing. It's a challenge for teachers to maintain dress code.

In all fairness, that is a Barbie that is geared towards the adult collectors, she's about a $100 doll.....no one is going to give that one to an 8 year old.

It's an old debate about whether Barbie is good for girls or bad for girls. I loved her as a kid and I love her now.....I still collect the older dolls.

Who knows if my deep seated psychological problems come from playing with a doll with big boobs or just life in general.

I never really took as much issue with Barbie's as BRATZ because the overall persona is different. Now, I trust in my overall parenting skills that my daughter would not want to be a whore simply because the dolls she played with look like whores, but they always just rubbed me the wrong way. I'd say Victoria was done with Barbie's around 6 or 7 completely and had moved on to American Girl dolls (which just this year she seems to have grown out of as well :( ). I think she'll always love her dolls as you love Barbie's, though. She has quite a collection of porcelain ones.
