This is beginning to bore me. When you are done, perhaps we can all meet over HERE where I intend to initiate a lively debate about Jimmy Buffett's poor choices for cover songs.

Re: Al Franken Leads in Minnesota Senate Race . . .
His primary contributions to SNL were NOT as a performer but as a writer and producer.blackjack wrote:I'm old enough to remember his SNL days. He was unfunny. Remember, Laraine Newman was on that show too and she was no talent, so just being on that show doesn't equal comedic genius.RinglingRingling wrote:a failure? by who's standards? His affiliation with the golden age of SNL alone puts the boots to that one.blackjack wrote:He always was and remains an unfunny hack and a failure in show business. No wonder he had to run for office, he couldn't do anything else.
He's also an accomplished writer, and frankly, he's a lot better than the weasel-incumbent whose ego was bruised by having to wait for an opening in the Demos' schedule to run for the national stage, so he whored himself out to the Repubs for funding. Nice to see that Franken didn't back off his stance on the recount despite Coleman and his people's best efforts to portray an accurate count as a waste of money....
best campaign ad I saw in 2002 was Wellstone's running of a montage of ads from Norm Coleman endorsing him on previous Senatorial runs.
Hell, he and Tom Davis were the least funny things about Trading Places.
P.S. I didn't mention anything about politics, but since you asked... Air America was his baby and it was an utter failure. I'm no Rush Limbaugh fan, but at least he draws an audience.

I could give a damn, actually, if it were only a state office he was running for...wouldn't affect me to much, personally. but if he's going to Washington, another matter.surfpirate wrote: This is beginning to bore me. thankfully, I didn't click on your HERE , :shudder:
I do try to catch O'Reilly, although I prefer Letterman, but avoid him and Rove, at all costs...
fwiw, any cover song Buffett wants to sing is fine with me...it IS his show..

I didn't attack you, and if you support Franken then the shoe fits, and that is not an attack. You might consider replacing those shoes.RinglingRingling wrote:
no more an attack than your "expression of an opinion" is an attack on the belief of anyone who didn't believe exactly what you believe.
as for your "Really, how many people do you know of that were tortured? Were you there to witness such events?", you would dispute the findings of the trials of the guards at Abu Grahib (sp?) and the photos? I didn't know anyone in El Salvador or Brazil or Nicaragua under Somoza when the death squads were disappearing people right and left (figure of speech, those disappearing were generally anyone from our political equiv. of "RINO" leftward..) but it certainly happened. As for your "a simple yes or no is all that is required", if only it were that simple.. I get the feeling you would like it to be so you can wrap your head around a binary "good/bad", "black/white" decision matrix, but it isn't and it won't be.
and congratulations, you get to be the next person to test the new "ignore user" feature. I am hoping it continues to work as well with you as it does on the other two folks who made the list as soon as I heard about it.You have a pleasant black/white day.
I notice that you dodged the question and refuse to admit a simple answer to a simple question. That says a a lot about how you feel about the lives of the rest of your fellow Americans.
From what I have seen of the so called "torture" at AG, college students pledging, go through similiar and much worse.
Thank you for the thoughts of having a nice black/white day.
Please do continue using the ignore feature. I consider it a badge of honor and a very nice christmas present from you.
Merry Christmas.

Nope, his idea of humor was to say his name over and over again.
Dry humor? As in "you know this is supposed to be funny so assume/pretend
it is and laugh anyway or people will think you don't get it because you're stupid
when in reality it is just weakly written and delivered'?

Well said! I do think you made a mistake and insulted the bucket of sh!t, and gave Franken more credit than he deserves.Wino you know wrote:I just LOVE how the usual bunch of socialist "progressives" start these crappy-a$$ threads EVERY TIME and then start their p|ssing and moaning whenever someone replies with a view differing from theirs.
You people are as predictable as the Cubs collapse every G.D. September.
I didn't start this thread, but since one of the socialist "frequent flyers" did, I gave my opinion.
Al Franken is a JACKA$$,
Al Franken is an IDIOT,
Al Franken is a COMPLETE AND TOTAL WASTE OF HUMAN DEBRIS,
The only difference between Al Franken and a bucket of sh|t is the bucket.
All of the above also applies to the FREAKS in Minnesota who voted for this moron.
Al Franken has as much business being a Senator as I do a CHIP & DALES.
Who are they going to elect as their next governor? Elmer Friggin' FUDD?![]()

I would hazzard a guess that the people of that state wanted to get rid of him and his ad nauseum, so that might be why they wanted to send him to D.C.
I do not find him funny,or the joke he is making by trying to get elected and subject our nation and the World to his BS and whims.
If Franken actually manages to win, May God have mercy on us, our nation and the rest of the World.

Re: Al Franken Leads in Minnesota Senate Race . . .
I don't know a whole lot about Al Franken. Taking that into consideration, I know of his history in comedy/SNL, have heard his radio show a handfull of times and have read one of his books. In my mind, I would equate him to Jon Stewart and Steven Colbert. When I look at those types of people, I see individuals who have a keen ability to see what is wrong with politics. Although that does not mean they are highly qualified for office, I believe that they are more able to see things from a practical, rational and realistic perspective. That, to me, makes them worth considering as a viable candidate and perhaps worthy as an elected official.
Because of their analysis and commentary on politics, assuming that they are as intelligent and knowledgable as their writers and cameras make them to seem, I would, on the surface, judge them to be every bit as worthy of a candidate as Jesse Ventura, Ronald Reagan, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jerry Springer or any other celebrity-turned-politician. If you put Jon Stewart in the oval office with cabinet members being a fair balance of people like his writers who see what is wrong with America/politics and others who are equally competent on what to do about those issues, I can't say I would be afraid of that.
Now give me just a second to get my helmet on before I click submit......![asa [smilie=asa.gif]](./images/smilies/asa.gif)

A very nice person at THIS SITE who goes by the screen name Capt.Phright seems to agree with me on my perspective that Jimmy should stay away from cover songs while he is on tour. At least I think he agrees with me ....... all he keeps posting is "Mega-Dildos" (or maybe it was "Dittos", I'm not sure).
