Al Franken Leads in Minnesota Senate Race . . .

With the statewide recount completed and the various avenues for appeal diminishing, Al Franken is now leading Republican Norm Coleman in the Senate race in Minnesota. I would dearly love to see Al Franken become a senator and I would love to see him use this image if/when the victory becomes official:
MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!

dear God, flyboy, I pray that I never board an airplane you're piloting, or whatever it is you do that involves airplanes.
Al Franken?
have you considered a frontal lobotomy?

Al Franken is a total idiotic unfunny joke, and if they people of Minnesota elect him as their U.S. Senator, they deserve to be laughed at. Wholly asinine.

This is an embarrassment to the Democratic party -AND- the Republican party.

What a bunch of IDIOTS there must be in Minnesota
Apparently those jerk-offs don't realize we already have a Massachusetts and a California.
President Bush ought to have a little fun before his term expires and order the Air Force to CARPET BOMB that place (and every other "blue" state, for that matter), and, the day before he leaves office, he needs to sign an executive order moving the U.S. Capitol from Washington, D.C. to LUBBOCK, Texas.

I find any American calling for the genocide of other Americans, even in a joking manner to be very anti-American and not funny at all. My father, brother and husband did not serve this country in the military to enforce their views on anyone but to rather allow the free thought of all Americans.

Look - we've already had various actors, wrestlers, village idiots and clowns elected to high office in this country.
Why not have a guy who actually rose to fame as a comedian, in the business of making people laugh, become a politician, instead of the other way around for a change?
Besides, he's a smart guy, he's passionate about the issues and his heart's in the right place. I think he'd do a great job.

Qualifications for office:
He certainly is a lot sharper mind & wit than ex-Gov. (failure) Jesse Ventura, but...
he never read a teleprompter to deliver TV weather reports in librarian glasses and FM pumps.
See, then, that would've totally qualified him to be the Red(neck) states choice for Veep!!!

LOL. That's a great line! And also very true. I'm rooting for Franken to have his shot.

He always was and remains an unfunny hack and a failure in show business. No wonder he had to run for office, he couldn't do anything else.

a failure? by who's standards? His affiliation with the golden age of SNL alone puts the boots to that one.
He's also an accomplished writer, and frankly, he's a lot better than the weasel-incumbent whose ego was bruised by having to wait for an opening in the Demos' schedule to run for the national stage, so he whored himself out to the Repubs for funding. Nice to see that Franken didn't back off his stance on the recount despite Coleman and his people's best efforts to portray an accurate count as a waste of money....
best campaign ad I saw in 2002 was Wellstone's running of a montage of ads from Norm Coleman endorsing him on previous Senatorial runs.

At least you seem to be more humorous than Al Franken. That is not saying much though.
Laugh while you can. It may be a very long time before the rest of us will be able to laugh again.
If Al Franken's heart is in the right place then please tell us where his heart is. In my opinion, Franken certainly does not have any of my or our country's best interest at heart.
Wanting a not so funny former comedian and author, to be elected to office only proves the
gullibility and lack of seriousness of the American voter.
No wonder we have the type of goverment we do. We certainly deserve it, when people support such candidates. Meanwhile the rest of the innocent people and country suffer and the press makes more $$$$!!
I am most glad to know how much care for their fellow Americans such people really have, and how joyfull they are in their fellow citizens sufferings.

"The rest of us"? I didn't deserve the government I got in 2000 or 2004: the one that managed to double the national debt, completely ruin the economy, and uses torture and "renditions" to render the concept of "rights" and "rule of law" moot.
perhaps you should learn to think and speak in full concepts and ideas, not just sucking up and regurgitating sound-bytes from your AM talk-radio sources.

WTF??? I only expressed my opinions. Your statements seem to be a clear attack on them.
If you are so smart and caring then why don't you run for public office?
Really, how many people do you know of that were tortured? Were you there to witness such events?
Would you prefer more American deaths and injuries over such? A simple yes or no answer is all that is required.
What steps would you take to save American Citizen's lives?

Nice... once again, the Dems are about to steal another close election.
Last close election they DIDN'T steal was 2000...

no more an attack than your "expression of an opinion" is an attack on the belief of anyone who didn't believe exactly what you believe.
as for your "Really, how many people do you know of that were tortured? Were you there to witness such events?", you would dispute the findings of the trials of the guards at Abu Grahib (sp?) and the photos? I didn't know anyone in El Salvador or Brazil or Nicaragua under Somoza when the death squads were disappearing people right and left (figure of speech, those disappearing were generally anyone from our political equiv. of "RINO" leftward..) but it certainly happened. As for your "a simple yes or no is all that is required", if only it were that simple.. I get the feeling you would like it to be so you can wrap your head around a binary "good/bad", "black/white" decision matrix, but it isn't and it won't be.
and congratulations, you get to be the next person to test the new "ignore user" feature. I am hoping it continues to work as well with you as it does on the other two folks who made the list as soon as I heard about it.

You have a pleasant black/white day.

I just LOVE how the usual bunch of socialist "progressives" start these crappy-a$$ threads EVERY TIME and then start their p|ssing and moaning whenever someone replies with a view differing from theirs.
You people are as predictable as the Cubs collapse every G.D. September.
I didn't start this thread, but since one of the socialist "frequent flyers" did, I gave my opinion.
Al Franken is a JACKA$$,
Al Franken is an IDIOT,
Al Franken is a COMPLETE AND TOTAL WASTE OF HUMAN DEBRIS,
The only difference between Al Franken and a bucket of sh|t is the bucket.
All of the above also applies to the FREAKS in Minnesota who voted for this moron.
Al Franken has as much business being a Senator as I do a CHIP & DALES.
Who are they going to elect as their next governor? Elmer Friggin' FUDD?

I'm old enough to remember his SNL days. He was unfunny. Remember, Laraine Newman was on that show too and she was no talent, so just being on that show doesn't equal comedic genius.
Hell, he and Tom Davis were the least funny things about Trading Places.
P.S. I didn't mention anything about politics, but since you asked... Air America was his baby and it was an utter failure. I'm no Rush Limbaugh fan, but at least he draws an audience.

His humor on SNL was dry wit. I won't attack his tenure on SNL.
Another alumni of SNL entered the political ring, where he belongs, and not on the ballot.
I'm not sure I can identify with the new supposed progressive Democrat. Or that I want to.
