the same sort of folks who still cheer for Notre Dame.

a pox on both your houses!!!

it's ok Jack.. people still show up for the Raiders and Cubs games too.. even if the odds of them ever winning another championship are slimmer than an 18 year old Ethiopian anorexic with dysentary...

The trouble with Al Davis and Jerry Jones is that they both think they are what Al Davis USED to be -- a great football man. They're both mistaken.

Al Davis hasn't been great since the early 80s...

Jerry Jones played football @ Arkansas under Frank Boyles, and was a team-mate with Jimmy Johnson and Barry Switzer at Arkansas,
Switzer and Johnson have both won College Football National Championships and Super Bowls and coached the Dallas Cowboys.

Jerry Jones is ONE of the reasons I don't like the Cowboys... I used to be a fan in the early 80's to about the mid 80's (when the Bears finally won a Super Bowl)...but I do love the cheerleaders
The main thing I hate about the 'boys is that it seems any player that gets in trouble somewhere else gets a "bailout" because Jerry Jones picks them up (Tank Johnson, Terrel Owens, et. al.). Of course all of them have big egos so it's impossible to seem them "playing" together...they're more interested in their "numbers"

Jimmy also was a defensive assistant at OU under Barry before becoming head man at OSU.

I'm not a Dolphin fan, but after the Jets dumped Chad (who is a great guy and first class QB) I couldn't wait for this last game - payback time.

I bled blue and silver for many years. I sat on the 50-yard line at the Cotton Bowl in the bitter cold, for heaven's sake. I come from Don Meredith country. I saw Bob Hayes make his first touchdown. I loved Roger Staubach and Bob Lilly and Walt Garrison and Ed "Too Tall" Jones. I remember the 1966 Ice Bowl in Green Bay. I admired Tom Landry. He knew football from kickoff to 2-minute drill.
Maybe it *was* time for Landry to retire, but the way Jones handled the whole affair was wrong and proved what my granddaddy always said ... and the topic of this thread ... a fish rots from the head down. When that hillbilly from Arkansas fired Coach and robbed him of a graceful exit, it was over for me.
True story.
I had the opportunity to ride in the same elevator with Alicia Landry not too long ago. I told her how much I admired her husband and thanked her for sharing him with us for so many years. Told her my father-in-law was a coach cut from the same cloth as her husband and was admired by his players and people in his hometown. She was very gracious and asked where my father-in-law coached and how long.
My mother happened to be with me and as we left the elevator, she said, "My daughter was so angry about the way they treated Coach Landry that she won't be in the same room when the Cowboys are on TV."
Alicia Landry replied, "Really? Well, neither will I."

pretty much same here, ETPH, I wasn't old enough to drive when I was learning football watching the very young expansion team of Dallas.
a world away from what we have now...and none for the better. I rarely even watch.

Never a Cowboys fan, living in Patriots country, but when I was young you could always respect Coach Landry, Staubach, and the Cowboys.
Not any more. Not even close......

THIS Redskins fan has nothing but respect for Tom Landry, Roger Staubach and a select few other Dallas Cowboys, mostly from days long past.
Jerry Jones is not on that select few list. Memo to Jerry: Stay the *bleep* off the sideline! You don't belong there - and especially never "during the game"!
I even have a number of good friends who are sadly misguided in their ways and for whatever reason call themselves "Cowboys Fans". One of my best friends and I have attended two (2) Redskins/Cowboys games together. The first was Troy Aikman's rookie year. Yep, the 1-15 Cowboys where the "1" came at RFK Stadium against the Redskins. Then 2 years ago we flew to Dallas for the game and "guys weekend". Dallas won that one too.

maybe you should contact the 'skins owner and convince him to pay you to attend another game.. like when they play the Raiders or the Lions..

No matter what, I'm true blue to the end. It's in my DNA.
I long for the day when Jerry retires and leaves the day to day operations to his much more sensible son, Stephen Jones.

we've been able to see more of the Sooners this year than any previous year...that's OK with me...and I guess UGA Dawgs have kinda taken over where the Cowboys were.
I can only watch so much football, and now, I actually prefer college to professional...
the Cowboys are still my favorite pro team, and always will be.

figure sometime in the 20s... they'll get him out of the box, off the sidelines, away from the meddling about the time the last stroke renders him speechless; or the day after Pacman gets him shot.

As many know, my own blood is of the burgundy and gold variety, but I don't know a single Redskins fan that does not have the UTMOST of respect for Tom Landry.

I WAS a semi-Cowboys fan until 1989 when Sh|thead Jones bought the team and fired Tom Landry-one of the greatest coaches in the history of the N.F.L.
These days they're nothing more than a bunch of overpaid egotist jerk-offs.
But at least they have a bunch of eye candy cheerleaders, and Dallas has one of the best HOOTERS restaurants in the country.
