No
Um, no you are not the only one!

I can usually count on one or two good, spiritual experiences at every show.

Thanks to everyone who posted - this thread has become an anchoring spot when I need to become grounded again. It was great reading back through many of the posts and seeing how lives have been enhanced, enriched, or in some cases transformed by Jimmy and being a Parrothead. While the music is the foundation, it really is the relationships and people that keep me coming back to this site and going to the concerts. I regret that time constraints, work obligations, etc. limit meeting more Parrotheads, but am grateful for all that are in my life.

As you probably can read out of my screen name, I'm from Switzerland, Europe.
I learned about Jimmy and his music maybe 15 years ago.
Last year I made it to the Paris show and became a little parrotheadish
Now since the Paris show is in a small venue, and I saw all the photos and videos of the tailgating, I wanted to experience this myself.
So I travelled all the way to Great Woods, for the show basically.
What happened is - I had a weekend I consider being one of the top three best weekends in my life!
Not only got I to see the CRB in a small venue, and Jimmy play for 19'000 fans, but I also made friends. I was welcomed in the BN group like a family member.
Without Jimmy and his music I probably would never have travelled to the USA (for several reasons I won't detail) and would never had met these wonderful people I've met this weekend.
So being a Parrothead changed my life in that I now have friends in the USA I really care about (not that I didn't care before, but knowing someone in RL changes things drastically I'd say) - after my very first one week visit to your country. (But not the last for sure, MOTM is booked...)

And C-Dawg, no, you're not the only one, I had very wet eyes the first three songs or so last Saturday!

Mike, you enriched our experience so much - we had such a good time showing our part of this country to you, Lesley and Barry. It actually made us look at it all with new eyes too. And you have a wealth of knowledge about so many things we really enjoyed having you with us! I'm so glad you guys will be coming to Key West - wait til you see THAT!!!

Now, that's the stuff I'm talking about. I am so sorry that I didn't get to meet you or other BN Parrotheads at Great Woods this year. Two years in a row, work obligations, kids, traffic, poor planning, etc. keep us from meeting the great people from this site. We always make the show, but not much more than a quick run through the parking lots. Can someone volunteer to coordinate my schedule next year and help me keep my priorities straight?

Anyway, glad it was awesome for you and hope to meet you next year.

one last note, my enjoyment of the music and ancilliaries made it possible to give so many loud, tasteless Hawaiian shirts a good home; well cared-for and appreciated, they live in my closet and make mine a unique fashion-statement

Is it wrong to wear my loud, tasteless Hawaiian shirts to places other than a Buffett concert?
I got strange looks in church last Sunday.

if anyone asks in that situation, and it is a floral pattern, I'd just claim, "he created all the things on, and in this shirt, and so I am showing respect for a master craftsman". Pause. Then pat them on the shoulder and say, "just funnin' ya hoss, it's my only clean shirt" and see the reaction.... :D

How has being a parrothead changed my life?

Well, for one, it's decimated the hell out of my bank account.
