Mississippi bluesman David "Honeyboy" Edwards ... now 93 and still playing about 75 worldwide dates each year, is one of six new inductees into the Mississippi Musicians Hall of Fame.
The others: Bobbie Gentry, country; Tom “Bones” Malone, jazz; Ace Cannon, rock and soul; Jimmy Owens, gospel; and Mac McAnally, country rock.
The Hall of Fame has showcased its exhibits at the Jackson-Evers International Airport since 2004. There is no formal induction ceremony.
Singer/songwriter veteran Mac McAnally is also a producer, session player, publisher, band member, studio owner, comic and storyteller.
He has recorded 10 studio albums and has written multiple hits such as It's A Crazy World and Back Where I Come From. In October, McAnally recorded a duet with Kenny Chesney, Down the Road.
He has produced records for Little Feat, Sawyer Brown, Jimmy Buffett, Ricky Skaggs and more. McAnally was the first artist ever to be signed by David Geffen for Geffen Records; the next two were John Lennon and Elton John.
As a member of Jimmy Buffett's Coral Reefer Band, McAnally has written a number of songs with Buffett.
