Re: Mike Shanahan to Dallas??
They're already good buddies, and it would make perfect sense with a young, sputtering QB like Romo.
Look what he did with an under-achieving John Elway

Because he and Jerry are buddies and because the Cowboys have a team with Super Bowl talent but no discipline. Shanahan can bring that discipline.

Re: Mike Shanahan to Dallas??
This wouldn't surprise me. Jones and Shanahan are good friends, the last 2 seasons they've had a weeklong scrimmage during training camp.
If it happens, I think Shanahan sits out a year first, then Jones hires him after the 09/10 season. Unless Mike really needs the money to finish his $30 million home in Denver

Shanahan is still being paid by Pat Bowlen.

Bowlen's obligation would end if Shanahan were to find another coaching job, as I understand it.bestseller92 wrote:Shanahan is still being paid by Pat Bowlen.

More the reason to remain friends!!!...Wasn't he friends with Jimmy Johnson and Switzer!!SharkOnLand wrote:This wouldn't surprise me. Jones and Shanahan are good friends, the last 2 seasons they've had a weeklong scrimmage during training camp.

Re: Mike Shanahan to Dallas??
Not entirely. If a new head coaching job pays Shanahan less than his Broncos' contract calls for, Denver has to make up the difference.SharkOnLand wrote:Bowlen's obligation would end if Shanahan were to find another coaching job, as I understand it.bestseller92 wrote:Shanahan is still being paid by Pat Bowlen.

I'm not familiar with Shanahan's contract but I do believe he will end up with another head coaching job somewhere. I don't think he's hurting for money unless he in invested with Madoff.

Re: Mike Shanahan to Dallas??
If you go back a few pages in the NFL thread, we discussed it there when Shanny first got fired.....I still say Jones is telling Garrett to find another job so he has "an Out" and can make the move and hire Shanny. Jones says 2010, but why? If the team knows Phillips is a lame duck and things are going to change with Shanny in 2010, what makes you think they'll buy into Phillips system in 2009 any better than it did in the lat 2 games of this past season. With what Jones has said already, he should just pull the trigger and make the change.
