Yes. But others should get in before him. 214 wins and roughly 3100 K's . . . there are better HOF options out there. His name - persona - bloody sock - etc. put him over.

Low regular season win total could hurt him but his post season numbers should get him in eventually. In 19 postseason starts, he compiled an 11-2 record with a 2.23 ERA, striking out 120 batters in 133.1 innings, alowing just 104 hits. His teams won 10 of the 12 playoff series he pitched in and 3 world series championships.

He also owns the best career strikeout-to-walk ratio of any pitcher in the modern era.

I think I read somewhere that Curt Schilling and Randy Johnson are the only two pitchers who have at least one victory against ALL 30 M.L. teams.

Ironically, it was those two who were the World Series co-M.V.P.s in 2001 when the Diamondbacks beat the Yankees.

Yup. If voters value postseason performance as much as they like to say they do, Schilling has to be in. Plus wasn't he on a lot of bad Phillies teams before getting traded to the Diamondbacks?

I remember that Schilling came up in the Orioles organization......but was traded away for people I can't even recall now (the O's have made so many bad trades over the years.....kind of tough to keep them all straight! :o ).

Another thing that could make it tough on him getting...he isn't a media favorite.....sorta like Jim Rice!!!.....but i think he should get in!!!...Catfish Hunter had less wins and got in!

More and more I think about it:

The best K/BB ratio ever . . . and the best modern day post season wins and ERA . . . with 3,000 K's and 200 wins (new modern standard . . . 300 wins is a thing of the past and I doubt anyone starting in the past few years will hit 250 either) should do it. Schilling gets in. Peter Gammons said he would vote for Curt first ballot. Gammons is like a trend setter . . . :pirate:

Does Mussina have it in him to get the 30 more wins needed for 300? I am actually pulling for him.

So, is he a HOF'er?

I was hoping he wouldn't...I'm happy he retired as a Red Sox player, but wouldn't have been surprised to see him try and come back mid season for AZ or TB.

IMO - yes. Yes for Schilling. Yes for Pedro. Although, all 3 don't have the typical "lock" HOF numbers. Schilling has the K/BB ratio, Moose has 270 wins, Pedro has a lifetime ERA under 3.00.

Blyleven, Jack Morris, and Luis Tiant have better overall lifetime stats and aren't in.

What about a twisty stray?

Morris did lead the 1980's in wins for all pitchers. 254 career wins. 3.90 career ERA. 3 - 20 win seasons. 175 Complete Games. 28 career shutouts. Numerous All Star Appearances (forget how many - 5?). He deserves a spot in the HOF along with Tiant and Blyleven.

Morris is a pos both on and off the field. Let him rot and pray to whoever he prays to that just maybe he didn't torque off enough members of the Veteran's Committee that he can get into the Hall before he's on life-support.

Blyleven - yes

Tiant, Morris, and Schilling - very good, but no
