(Sorry, yank fans. The rest of BN, Buffett concerts, tailgates, etc is a demilitarized zone, but in the baseball thread I don't like the yankees and never, ever will. It's my birthright to hate them just like it's your birthright to hate my Red Sox. )

I am so with you on this one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Go LA Angels -they can do it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (I was rooting for the Red Sox too -I have MLB extra innings so I can watch the Sox games all season -I need something else to watch as my Mets are not good for your health!!)

When I was on the train coming home last night I checked the scores of this game and Monday Night Football on my Blackberry. ESPN.com said the Phillies had won a "slugfest". 5-4 with 2 bases empty home runs is a slugfest? WTF

I can't believe Tracy sent Street out to the mound in the 9th last night. He didn't pitch well the night before, and hasn't really been "on" since he came back from the DL.

Oh well... Great series though. Good year for the Rockies, hopefully they don't fall off the face of the earth next season, like happened in 2008 after they went to the WS.

It's tough to pick who I want to see in world series from the NL but I a rooting for the Angels to win it all. I don't want to see NY buy a championship.

I think MLB really wants a LA-NY match up for obvious reasons, TV markets, Torre vs. NY. the high profile names on both teams...

An LAA vs LAD freeway series would be a ratings disaster. The games start late enough as is on the east (after 8pm) and with two west coast teams not many people in the central and east timezones will care enough to stay up that late. I wish they would look at how well the Minn-Det game did ratings wise and follow that lead. That game start at 5:10pm ET and was over by 9:45pm despite going extra innings and was a ratings boom. People were talking about that game for several days because so many people saw it.

LAA over NY in 6
Phi over LAD in 5
LAA over PHI in 5

Well since my beloved Detroit Tigers are out of it, I'm going for the parent team of our Great Lakes Loons - the Dodgers....

I'm a big baseball fan, but even I lose interest with all these days off with no games. It's college football season as far as I'm concerned.

Interesting scenario brewing tonite. Sabathia is pitching on 3 days rest, a recipe for disaster based on his prior history. NY's lack of a reliable 4th starter could bite them in the a$$ here.
