Just be glad you're not a fan of Led Zeppelin or Lynyrd Skynyrd, I see the names of those bands misspelled much more frequently than I do "Buffett". Someday I feel convinced I'm going to read an account of a Parrothead going nuts over someone misspelling Buffett, just be glad they're mentioning his name at all. It's really not worth getting all that worked up about, especially making up letters to send to said restaurant in Reading.

To whom it may concern,
I'm an out-of-towner and was looking for a place to eat. I came across your web page and noticed you are advertising a "Jimmy Buffet" weekend. Jimmy Buffett spells his name with 2 "t's". You are currently advertising a weekend where people can come in and feast on people/things called Jimmy in an all you can eat fashion.
It is a common error for most but in advertising a weekend "tribute" to the man and his music . . . ? Imagine going to Vegas to see Elves instead of Elvis - I'd expect to see Santa too. I got a chuckle but thought you should be aware.
I was unable to make it to your place but expect to look you up next time I am in town. Anyone good with Buffett is good with me.
Sincerely,
Matt Eischen

It might interesting if the establishment received
many of these emails to reiterate how many Parrotheads there are out there.....potentially spending (or not) money at that establishment.

Sure, and send them all to:
Callifornia Barr & Gril
Route 724 & Mounttain View Road
Shilington, PA 19607
Think the manager will get the message with all the mispellings?

Is this an ice cream place where they sell Jimmies? (for those who never been in New England before, jimmies are the same thing as sprinkles you put on the ice cream).

I'm not so irritated that they spelled Buffett wrong. It happens. I'm far more irritated that the manager blew off his employee, insulting her along the way. That's what bugs the crap out of me....

I really hope the daughter doesn't get fired or otherwise harassed because of people calling and emailing the manager.

Some of us might be happier about it - but if he advertises Jimmy Buffet
t weekend, he may get a letter from Jimmy's lawyers.

Yeah it's not all that much different than putting "be Kind Please rewind" on rental DVD's. They know WHY they're doing it, but they have to come up with a plausible story for the masses.
(In this case I'm positive that the manager knows the difference between Buffet and Buffett.... Otherwise he'd have to answer to Warren Buffet as well

)

You don't have to be rude for someone to find you annoying (especially with the way the manager is described in the OP), especially when they're being told they're wrong- again.

I'm just some random schmoe in this case and I think I was rather lighthearted about it actually. We'll see if I get a response. There is also no reason to assume this smart young lady would lose her job. Does anyone honestly believe her and I would be the only 2 people in the world to say something? If I made an error I sure would want to know so I can save myself further embarrassment.
Related story, I was at Buddy Guys Legends Blues Bar last night seeing the great Buddy Guy and came across a local music magazine I used to work for. I always get excited as it was my first graphic design job. Anyway it advertises local and national acts and local venues. The Chicago House of Blue Ad was a huge Full page ad equaling several thousands of dollars and every band performing this month is performing in . . .

Growing up in the late 80's and early 90's listening to all kinds of music including rap . . .
Jimmies are slang for Condoms. Perhaps in retrospect they are merely bringing in a Buffett Band for an all you can use Condom weekend.

And every New Englander talks so... damn funny. Some of them are so bad I can't understand them. One dude I know, he was talking about a friend of his named Carl but all I heard was Cahhrrrr, as in vehicle.
Idiots, not speaking American English. They make the various southern accents sound crystal clear.
