Depending on whether I'm talking to my mother or to my friends from Virginia where I lived for 15 years, my kids say my accent can change radically within moments.
I know what you mean Jen....I have family from Newfoundland, and after a couple of minutes on the phone with them, I start talking with an Irish accent, which is prevalent up there.
I always seem to pick up accents from where I've lived.....I'm one of the only people living in Vermont who says "hey" instead of hello and " y'all " on a regular basis  [smilie=noeyedear-shrugging.gif]
I'm impressed with y'all. I can do a Southern accent like all get-out, and even a Brooklyn and a Pittsburgh accent, but cannot do a Philadelphia one to save my life. I was born there and my Mom has the accent as well as all my aunts and uncles, some brothers and a sister-in-law, and when I hear it, I recognize it instantly, but I can't do it.

I'd have to hear your Pittsburgh accent....

Sorry OT  But Jen, please tell me you fixed a typo.........I just came back here to look up a word I wasn't familiar with.........and now it's gone

Why do I get the seriously unsettling feeling that I made an idiotic typo in the one thread where typos are a real issue, and Ms Penny bailed me out..... :o :o :o

If it's any help Jen...........I really didn't think it was a typo
I thought it was a Reader's Digest Word that I was not familiar with
and I wanted to check it out in the dictionary     and then when it wasn't there I thought I was having some serious medical issues of one kind or another     I truly was more than a little nervous. :o :-? I can laugh about it now.

Mission accomplished :) They now have Buffett spelled correctly on the the big lighted outside sign and they corrected their website ad. The manager was not there today so, spelling mistakes were corrected by someone else.

(on a side note, though, the banners that have Buffett spelled wrong were sponsored by Landshark Lager...   go figure that one out.)

All right, you had me paranoid that I must have misspelled Pittsburgh...

Now that I've recovered from that I must admit, it's not that good, just go heavy on the "y'ens" instead of "y'alls". I once had a roommate from Pittsburgh.

Um. Depends where you are in town. It is Yinz. Or. Yunz. Typically yinz. I don't use it, IF I do it is rare. Hey any news from the CA working girl?

thanks Penny - I was on my blackberry for the last post... and did not see it...

WONDER who the Landshark Rep is in that area? We are evil...but only to correct what is wrong, right?

Off to bed, you all have a great week!

  You'll need to take on the entire internet, cause it's misspelled more often than not.

Yeah, a cause not worth taking on. In addition to missing 't' in Google ads, the one below also conjugates we of the Jimmy Buffett following variety two different ways in one ad! "Parrot Head" and "Parrothead". Oh well.
