You beat me by "that" much. I didn't think anyone else remembered him playing at the Lake.
I used to work there. My first Jimmy Buffett experience was selling tickets the day of the show during the feeding frenzy tour. After the show started and I was done working, I cut through the concert area just to see who this guy was that sold out every year and had people dressing up like they were. I walked through right during the "sermon" part of that show, where he's talking about dumping money and victoria secret catelogues on Russia. I thought that's what the whole show was, some guy "preaching". I was like "You gotta to be kidding me."
Luckily next year at college some new friends set me straight.
Take me for what I am, a star newly emerging.
I accept the new found man, and I set the twilight reeling.
THE BACKYARD HAS FOUND A NEW HOME
AUSTIN, Texas ¬– January 14, 2009 – On Tuesday, January 13, James T. O’Connor, President of Direct Events, and John Paul DeJoria received approval from the City of Bee Cave to change the zoning of the proposed land for the new Backyard. With approximately 200 people in attendance, the Council’s approval was met with a standing ovation from the crowd and the Direct Events staff.
The new location will be off of Highway 71, west of the 620 intersection, consisting of just over 35 acres. The frontage entrance will be located on the proposed Bee Cave Parkway extension and will be adjacent to the 50 acre Bee Cave City Park. Groundbreaking will begin this spring. MORE

Yes, he did play there. After the original Golden Bear was torn down they rebuilt it but the dumb-asses that built it put a common wall between it and a movie theatre so the two places were always complaining about the noise coming through the wall. It closed down about 10 years ago. And now the movie theatre is closed down....come back Golden Bear, it was a great venue. When I was in high school you could even get in the door as long as you were at least 14 with a special hand stamp. And they served great food.

Buckeye Lake is still there. I live about 10 minutes away from there. It is actually outside of Columbus on I-70. The Polaris Amphitheater is no longer standing. Buffett used to play there in Columbus after he stopped playing Buckeye Lake.

i think we should start a "bring back buckeye lake" campaign
R.I.P Backyard.........that sucked when it got torn down. I was going to go see a show there and a little while after Willie Nelson did his show there, game over man. Still annoys the crap outta me.
Woodlands Pavilion, aka Cynthia Woods Mitchel Pavilion, north Houston, out of order, closed due to repairs underway from Hurricane Ike in sept 08.

Not sure when it is due to reopen. When it does, it is supposed to have more covered seats.
