Sunny and warm this weekend, but still more like Canadian beer weather than 'Rita time.
Went to St. Patrick's party last night, but drank Molson Golden .
Green bottle at least, and British Empire heritage connection, sort of counts I guess.
Wore my green beads somebody gave me at a Buffett tailgate,
believe it was YOU!!!!!!!!!!

My "ticket guy" collected the money yesterday, and this year he's coming!
Pavillion for him and his wife (both virgins), but he says he'd like to take in the tailgate.
I told him about the possibilities of being denied early access to the lot if the tics are at will-call, and he said he will look into getting them sent.
It'll be one less thing to lose sleep over.

Last June I couldn't get rid of my two extra lawns at face until just days before.
Also, I ended up with only one taker for my Chicago tickets even at half price.
I'm sure you Canadians will have a choice of tickets available.
Have any been showing up in the Detroit ticket exchange?

You missed it, Summer in the "D" was last weekend.
We're back to cold, cloudy, and windy for this weekend.

When I was a kid growing up in London, Ontario, Detroit was a Big Deal: Culture + Shopping. Went to the Ford Plant and Greenfeld Village. Mum went shopping downtown. Stayed at a hotel (Statler?) and ate French Toast for breakfast. More than once, I think.

You gotta remember, this was sometime before 1958.

(my Dad died in 58, so there were no more trips  anywhere)

We also went to Buffalo, NY. I remember breakfast (French Toast again, was I obsessed? in an "Open kitchen" , a weird concept) and I remember a museum, where there were --or had been--mummies. Bad smell, and bad vibes.

Sorry folks, slightly PWI here tonight.

Other memory of Detroit: in early May 1968, Neil (No Parrot) and I volunteered to acccompany his little sister's grade 6 trip to Detroit, to the Zoo and Greenfield Village. I had the 3 kids who threw up. He got the ones who taled back and then ran away. On the road home, I got a piece of glass in my eye and had a patch on my eye until a week before we got married!

Best memories of Detroi? Listening to Motown music as it happened, on CKLW Windsor, Ont.

It was my summer background music, especially when at the cottage on the shores of Lake Huron.

I started out with WXYZ am "Wixy", then moved on to WKNR am and picked up the "Keener" guide every week to memorize the top ten.
One day I got turned on to a brand new station, WABX FM.
"Underground" album rock, they played the LONG version of the Door's "Light My Fire".
Bought my first pair of Levi bell's the next day, and ordered my wire rims to replace my plastic frames.
WABX had an advertising salesman that was as hip as the station.
He eventually left to go into the family business,
and ironicaly made his millions selling PLASTIC frames to everybody.
He THINKS he can dance, but I don't

Sorry to just respond to you now Al, but I have not been on here a lot lately.

Not too much action on the ticket exchange thread for DTE. I was however able to score lawns for Pittsburgh so at least I know I will see Jimmy once.

Fear not.......we are Detroit bound anyway. We will be on our way home from Nova Scotia, but we will be there. I too am feeling confident that there will be lawns available....and even if there isn't we will still be there to tailgate with our phriends and will probably be able to hear the concert with the other lot lizzards.

Good morning everyone. Sorry I haven't been on here much. I had a busy couple weeks at work, followed by a week of much-needed vacation. Now it's back to the grind

Have I missed anything fun?

Let's see... weather reports, snow, no snow, sunshine, rain, probability of spring, followed by summer....
..various geezers going on about radio stations of their youth..... people with plans to see or not see the concert ....
Nope, not much.
Welcome back.

Sad part is that this thread has been the highlight of my March so far!
