all of them seem to go with the wide, shallow mouth on the carafe. had a Krups a long time ago, would spill coffee every time I tried to fill a cup. Got a Target-special now that I've had since I moved in 9 years ago, and it still makes coffee and not a bit of trouble for $12 and tax.

speaking of which.. I need some coffee.

I feel I must defend my Mr. Coffee. It is about 12 years old. It has made coffee in many homes, and many ports aboard my boat, without fail. It is the cheapest one they made with a clock on it. Unless you are going through a few pots a day, I would never spend more then $40 on a coffee maker. Its just not that complicated a process. I know a lot of people with fancy coffee makers, that are always spilling things and malfunctioning. I would look less at brands and features, and just pay attention to the design flaws on what you have, and look at the design of those parts on different models. Good luck. And if it doesn't work out, just add a shot of Southern Comfort to each cup, and after a little while, you won't care!!

I recommend a grind and brew model. I also use a french press on weekends and I think by far this makes the best cup of coffee. The grind and brew I got from qvc a while back.

Good luck, we must have our coffee :)

I'm really surprised no one has mentioned buying a Keurig. I was apprehensive when Marilyn mentioned she wanted to get one, but within a couple days, I was hooked.
When we go away on vacation there are 2 things I miss....our bed with memory foam, and our Keurig machine.
I get out of bed, and 20 seconds later I have a fresh cup of coffee. There are many different blends, as well as teas, chai and hot chocolate. One of the best parts is regardless what was last brewed, the next cup doesn't get any residual flavor. As someone who drinks their coffee black, no sugar, and doesn't like flavored coffee, that's something important to me. Here's their site
http://www.keurig.com/
and here's the one we have,

My cousin just got one of these things......and they do make great coffee! Wasn't sure about the availability of the individual coffees/teas, etc. Where do those of you that own one get your supplies? Local stores? Mail order?

What brand of grind and brew did you buy? Also, never used a French press, what grind do you use (medium, coarse?)......Thanks! :pirate:

We used to do mail order thru Green Mountain Coffee Roasters, where we bought our Keurig, but have found Costco has the best deal on the K-cups. However, in a pinch, I've also bought them at my local Hannafords and have seen them at ACE Hardware also.

For those that have the Keurig, and want to use their own fresh-ground beans,..... you can get this ImageThe reusable K-Cup? filter assembly allows you to use your own gourmet ground coffee in your Keurig? brewer. It only works in Keurig At Home brewers: Mini, Elite, Classic, Ultra, Ultimate, Special Edition, Platinum, and Breville. Note: The My K-Cup is not compatible with the B100 and Keurig Commercial brewers

I don't know if you need both of those or only one, just know that a friend has something to use in her Keurig so she can use her own coffee. [smilie=battingeyes.gif]

i have one of those, and it is good in that it allows me to occasionally use my own coffee (if someone gives me something good or i bring some home from vacation) without having to have two coffee makers. but to use that all the time would (to me) defeat the purpose of having a Keurig. filling and washing that filter basket is a p.i.t.a.

Linens & Things, Bed Bath & Beyond, Target, & Macys’ all sell K-Cups, and if you order enough of them at one time, you get a discount and free shipping from the Keurig website.

We have one of those and I use them occasionally. It takes an extra minute to fill but is nice if you run out of K cups or want a specialty blend that isn't available in a K cup, like this Cuban coffee we just brought back from Ybor City.
To each their own, but I've had $100 drip machines, french presses and still use a Preculator at my camp where we have gas lights and stove, and I wouldn't give my Keurig up now if I was given another machine and free coffee of my choice for a year.
