Does anyone know what model guitar Jimmy plays or what models he has been known to play in the past?

I know he frequently plays Martin's and PRS guitars on stage. I've seen him play one of his signature Martins with the palm tree headstock, but that's the only one I could identify the model of off the top of my head.

He uses PRS electrics quite a bit......on the MARTIN HD-18JB Limited Edition Signature Model guitar...In honor of Jimmy and the Margaritaville Store located at 424 Fleming St, Key West, just 424 of these guitars were made. The HD-18JB derives its inspiration from Martin's legendary HD-28 guitar.

Electrically I have seen him with a wide variety, but the telecaster seems to pop up quite often...."In Anguilla" looks like some type of Tele body with a strat neck.... He has a Rickenbacker on the Feeding Frenzy cover....so he is elcectic!

He also uses a Martin 000-JBS and 000-JBP small body acoustics. these are awesome guitars. you can go to the Martin Guitars site and see pictures of them. I believe the PRS he uses is a Custom 24, and i believe he usually uses a blue one.

and assorted & sundry acoustics that I don't know nuttin about.

Hard to find good pictures of his guitars...other than the acoustics. Not sure if this is the shark guitar he had, but one like it

I stood on the stage of an empty MGM Grand Arena holding one of them in my hands. 8) But since I don't play I didn't bother to look to see what kind it was.

Explain this Tele with a 'strat' neck. That makes no sense.

He was playing Carvin electrics back in the seventies. Also a Sante Fe acoustic back then. Currently I think he is back to tele's.

No, it's a regular Tele neck.

Jimmy's new 12-string guitar is a Jerry Jones Single Cutaway 12-string Guitar.

>>Tele body with a strat neck<<

Musicians/Artists are strange people (I am one occasionally - a musician, that is) and some (almost all) prefer to customize guitars to their liking ...some like the tele body but the feel of the strat neck - maybe even a particuar strat neck - as they evolved over the years.

Fender even made one like this after seeing musicians try it....>> Fender Telecaster Deluxe is a solid-body electric guitar originally produced from 1972 to 1981, and since re-issued by Fender in 2004 as the '72 Telecaster Deluxe.<<

But inseeing those other photos that does appea to be a 'straight' tele

I don't think I've ever seen a Strat head on a Tele. But damn that would make more sense because those damn Tele's are hard to string. Hell, both of them are hard to string but the Tele's are really hard to tune because the damn pegs are too close together.

Yes, you can buy the HD-18JB. Just go to ebay and type in "Jimmy Buffett Guitar". Sort by price (high to low)...it's pretty darn expensive, but a great sounding Martin.

A wonderful Martin it is, especially for a Jimmy fan. Not only are you getting a fabulous guitar, you are also getting a unique collector piece. Three years ago, these were going to $3-4k. Now they regularly go for $5-6k. I have owned three (inlcuding the two above) over the past three years. Sold the other two, kept one. Won't be selling it anytime soon.

So what happens to the guitars that Jimmy "retires?" Does he keep them. Do they go to various Margaritavilles? Does he sell them on eBay and give the money to charity?
Wonder what happened to this gorgeous Mortero guitar that he played in Sag Harbor in 1999 for example.
